Pretty sure most of the fly fishers do. Not so sure about the ones grabbing the ol Zebco spincaster to fish off the banks of a lake though.

So, from another report I read, they weren’t clueless. They were walking in Yellowstone, as we would do, saw two bison, and immediately tried to GTFO. As we would do.
One of the Bison was having none of it.
May or may not have been the case, but that’s what I heard.

I heard the same. Wildlife is dangerous and sometimes shit happens. Hope she makes a full recovery.

I lived and worked on a ranch that ran Buffalo for awhile, they're interesting critters. I learned a lot about them just by watching and talking to the wranglers. One time I asked one if they ever had trouble with them, and he said every once in awhile they get one with a screw loose, that you couldn't turn your back on or stop watching even in the most innocuous situations. Those ones got turned into buffalo burgers.

Wouldn’t all of them get turned into bison burgers eventually?

Eventually, but I don't know how long they keep buff cows producing calves. I think 10 years is the standard cull for moo cows.

They put the screwy ones in the freezer immediately.

The plains Indians hunted them on foot with bows and arrows before the Spanish brought horses. That impresses me.

They ran 'em off cliffs then stabbed them with spears. Still pretty ballsy.

    Yeah, I like that.
Oh, they didn’t do anything. They just ran after some Bison to chase him off a cliff and then climb down and started stabbing 2000 pound of wild animals with sharp rocks on sticks.
Oh, and I could definitely kick a gorilla’s ass.

That too. But cliffs aren't always handy on the great plains.

Head smashed in buffalo jump in southern Alberta is a great site to visit. Some estimates place pre-contact Blackfoot population at over 20,000 people. Would be quite the party at that annual gathering.

My understanding of the name is that the head that was smashed in wasn’t of a buffalo, but of some young-un that wanted to get a view of the hunt from the bottom of the cliffs.

    Oops.
