Some notice the poor manicure on this grizzly, I wonder how is it Harry talks me into carrying the bacon when we hike? Grizzly bears have impressive claws at close range, but I have never really focused on the quality of the manicure / pedicure of the ursine while in smelling distance.

Close enough that I had the safety off my bear spray.... He was not being aggressive, so I backed slowly away and everything was fine. I had been seeing his sign for about a quarter mile, so he was not unexpected.

I hike solo quite a bit in Griz country, so I am somewhat used to seeing them. I am very bear aware, and I pick up on signs that others might miss.

I was waiting for the bison to break down the fencing and throw the guy. Disappointed...

I just finished up camping in Yellowstone for a couple of days. Whew.

So much fun, but you really have to keep your eyes open. Crazy shit going down everywhere.

I found the ethnic makeup of that group of morons to be interesting, but also exactly what I expected to see.

Albeit in GTNP, in Moose the traffic was backed up from the gates to the intersection near the Post Office. We are finally nearing the gate. On the #$&%#@ bike path rolls a Harley passing everyone. On the bike path!

All his buddies were idling/rumbling just past the shack and took off in the loudest Harley procession I’ve ever heard.

I grew up around there. Lots of stories about dumbasses in the park, new and old.

Fave is about the guy who perished in one of the hot springs. Searchers found only footprints at the edge or shoes or something, the next day. The pool measured pH=1... he dissolved completely.

The idea of breaking through a thin mineral crust into thermal features has always kinda stuck with me. Quick way to end a Yellystern backcountry walk/ski.

Seems like there's a thermal feature death every few years, usually seasonal employees thinking they "know" a secret spot. Sad. That shit has always scared me skiing/hiking in park.
