Remember when he turned off starlink to foil a Ukrainian drone attack? And presumably you didn't notice that he's more or less removed moderation on Twitter?
Your take that he has no influence is mistaken. When he was just a loud buffoon, he got about the same amount of attention as the Jerry of the day. Now that he's inserting himself into the news cycle in a more material way, he's getting more attention. It's still kind of like being unable to look away from a car crash, but I think there are valid reasons why people care about him.

Elon gives a fuck, otherwise he wouldn’t be constantly posting on X seeking validation.
I find it amusing that even the wealthiest people are prone to insecurity

It will be easier to get people to buy into his "occupy Mars" movement If he is successful at making Earth a war-torn hateful polluted shit hole first...

I have been pretty disappointed we have not been able to ship him and his ilk to Mars yet. Maybe we need to increase his funding.

1 year ago Elon claims that about 2 MILLION people have preordered the Cybertruck: https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-cybe...e-hook-demand/
Jump to today and you can by a Cybertruck for immediate delivery despite estimated production is only around 25k units to date: https://www.tesla.com/cybertruck/design#overview
So only about 1% of paid preorders fulfilled their order? Yikes.

Elon Musk: Smartest Guy in The World or Complete Clown?
I haven’t had a reason really to post here, but I was talking with my brother about the new car technologies, and he’s saying that if it’s hydrogen fuel cell, that Musk and his engineers are working on it, because he knows jet propulsion.
In other words, he trusts Musk more than Toyota to do it right. There’s nothing about Musk and hydrogen fuel technology that I could find, but of course, that tracks with what he’s saying, (that they’re secretive).
I mean, Toyota knows how to make good cars, and they’ve been talking about hydrogen fuel cell for a while.Well maybe I'm the faggot America
I'm not a part of a redneck agenda

I'm missing something. Can you connect the jet propulsion to the fuel cells? What's common there?

I know, that’s kind of what I’m thinking. He’s sort of saying that they use hydrogen fuel for jet propulsion (I think).

There's talk lately showcasing each generation of the SpaceX Raptor engines, maybe that somehow got conflated with cars. In spite of his behavior, Elon's companies are capable of attracting and hiring engineering talent:
The latest engine uses fewer parts, is a lot more powerful and more efficient than previous generations.

Never underestimate engineers' desire to work on cool shit. Offering that and some minimum income, whether an organization enables success is the first relevant obstacle.

That's quite literally what I wrote. And yeah each engine, weighing less than most cars, uses two turbines one for the oxygen oxidizer and one for the methane fuel to pre-inject preburnt fuel at more than 5,000PSI into the main combustion chamber generating more than 600,000 pounds of thrust.

So… hydrogen fuel cell vehicles aren’t exactly new. Many buses operate on the technology but for cars it’s not cost effective or more efficient than batteries. What are we even talking about here?
