I hadn’t noticed that but if that is happening here in SF I like it. Can’t tell you the number of times a ped has lurched out in front of me when I’m already halfway through an intersection

On the flip side, the Waymos are the almost the only ones to stop for peds at the cross walk near us

    That's too funny!

That was exactly my first thought when I saw the Cybertruck; "I made that in Cub Scouts in 2nd grade!"

You're so Elmo if in the same week, you both demand massive compensation based on pure hype and also tacitly admit things are going so badly that you've got to ax 10% of your workforce.

    Takeaways?

    1. No such thing as awkward timing when you're on the spectrum.

    2. If you're going to blackmail shareholders for $50B while stock prices swandive, you'd best get it done before that exceeds 10% of market cap.
Disagree with 1. Him being an incompetent ass has nothing to do with potential other stuff.

Stock under $100 if that happens. Musk can't meet the performance goals yet still wants the $56B (probably to cover his Twitter loss). His pay should be docked after building that stupid truck.

He considers that money owed back pay, irrelevant to current or future stock price.

    Thought everyone knew that

But, now its become abundantly clear that Elmo achieved his stock option incentives by lying his ass off and manipulating his army of fanboy retail investors, not by building a better car or positioning his company for the future. The ugly truth of the cybertruck is that Elmo is much, much better at financial and social engineering than actual engineering. Tesla has never been about saving the word from carbon pollution. That would require building good affordable cars for the masses, a mission statement which Tesla has totally abandoned. FFS, he took his eye off that ball as soon as he thought he'd safely pocketed all his filthy lucre.

Elmo is a desperately narcissistic sociopath and a shameless stock market manipulator whose primary product is techno-utopian dreams.

His shareholders will approve it thinking that Musk will refocus all his time and energy to getting the stock price to double. But Musk had his time in the EV limelight. That $56 billion would be better spent in QC and R&D and not paying him to tweet all day.

I thought the cyber truck was meant to be a fun little oddity, similar to the Tesla flamethrower. Never meant to be an actual seller or significant part of the Tesla lineup. More marketing than substance- intended to fire up the fanboys and haters alike... no such thing as bad publicity, etc. It seems like the problems with the cybertruck are the low hanging fruit that everyone is grabbing for while largely ignoring the ongoing or looming problems with the other 98% of tesla. And maybe the distraction is working.

It also seems like musks brand of narcissistic unfiltered braggadocio resonated with people at the same time and for the same reason DJT's did. Folks want a "straight talker" who is anti-social to the parts of society that they dont like, and who sells them on the idea that today sucks, but that they alone will make tomorrow great!!!

Well, maybe that's true if you're PT Barnum and your business is a travelling circus. That's who said that.

How many manufacturing brand managers do you suppose would agree with that sentiment? Do you think that's what they are saying over at Boeing these days?

Is the point of this thread that Musk is a clown. And Tesla/SpaceX/Nueralink/etc are his traveling circuses?

YouTuber thunderf00t recently released a video on the SpaceX Mars proposal and contract process. The amount of hand-waving is something. Also questions about a conflict of interest in the award.

Musk is apparently suggesting that since Tesla sales dropped 20% Q4 to Q1, headcount should also drop by 20%.

This is the type of reasoned thinking only those companies fortunate enough to afford a $56b compensation package for their CEO can get.

To this day when I get an email notification for X, my first thought is that a porn site is emailing me. It’s not just the letter X either, it’s like the whole vibe of the logo.
