This is a fairly meager achievement in the grand scheme of things, but I never thought Hyperloop would even get this far: https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/v...ransportation/

    Put me down as clown.

However, I do recognize his gumption and ability to pull together Tesla and the cult-like Tesla bros around it.

Elon Musk: Smartest Guy in The World or Complete Clown?

Guy builds a 400B company from scratch, in a field where the smart money said the technology wasn’t ready. And he’s still a clown... Tough crowd.

Who is a smarter business person? Sure the people developing fusion at MIT are smarter but they probably are mostly shit at creating and running a business.

Also for those that say clown, what ceo or business leader isn’t a clown?

My daughter was disgusted to learn that the various models spell S3XY. I thought it was pretty funny.

    I still vote clown.

Not because the cars aren’t pretty darn good and still ahead of anything else efficiency wise which is huge in EV world.

Rather because he’s so full of shit still pushing this full self driving / autopilot fantasy. Damn car can’t even identify a herd of deer in the middle of the road and would have just driven full speed into them on adaptive cruise control - ask me how I know..........

The idea that Tesla can do full autonomy without LIDAR is ridiculous - they clearly can’t with current hardware and now that LIDAR is in mainstream smartphones, albeit in much less powerful and simplistic form, Musk’s position is untenable.

Rapid antigens are NOT reliable. They have a significant rate of false positives. A negative also can't be used to rule out a symptomatic patient.

Antigen tests are meant to be a serial screening tool. If you are positive, you should reflex to PCR to confirm.

But nobody who understands this shit is in Elon's inner group or someone would have told him that.

I like that Tesla has forced the auto industry to move to electric must faster than they probably had planned. Tesla’s are not the best built car out there and feel somewhat cheep; at least the model 3 I was in.

Musk is doing big things with everything he gets into but some of his comments make you scratch your head if he is all there.

Yeah, he pushed the pace and proved there is demand. Can't fault him for that.

    So green!

Bitcoin is an environmental disaster. The bitcoin network currently burns around 116.87 terawatt-hours per year, according to the University of Cambridge’s Centre for Alternative Finance. To give you an idea of how devastating that is to our climate, that is as much energy as a small country or seven nuclear power plants.

And then let's not even think about all the electricity needed for an all electric American car fleet.

Maybe that's his method. Promote Bitcoin, which needs a massive power infrastructure, then move in to that with car charging. In between bong hits, I guess.

On Wednesday, Ford CEO Jim Farley told attendees of the Wolfe Research Auto Conference that the United States needs to start building batteries for the industry’s planned deluge of electric vehicles now that semiconductor shortages have revealed the dangers of needing to source essential components from the other side of the planet.
    Ya think?

Seriously, there are lots of things the US needs to be able to produce from start to finish without relying on a semi-hostile / rival country half a world away.

Musk fibbing about Autopilot being ready by the end of the year, according to his chief engineer on the project.
