What’s ridiculous is all of us arguing for three years about who posted what when all our opinions were changing rapidly. The most delayed conversation ever. A twenty minute conversation held over 3 years, yeah nobody really remembers what they said 2 years ago and so they become indignant about stupid shit. remember when you said you have a feeling Elon MIGHT be a fraud. Internet is a weird place to be.

Elon Musk: Smartest Guy in The World or Complete Clown?

They are just not as committed to the fight like the detractors. Probably are mostly successful people that don’t dwell on the negative. Innovation requires optimism. Successful people are typically optimistic.

the Tesla "debate", just like Musk fanboyism, or Trump supporters, or many things online is most noticeable for how < little > opinion changes and just how hard it is to shift the narrative meaningfully once positions have been entrenched - not how much opinions change over time. 6 years later you can find much the same Musk fluffery as exhibited in discussions about the Hyperloop - and 6 years later that "hyperloop" has evolved into a shitty tunnel with cars aka a low throughput, high cost, unsafe "solution".

It's comical that you compare musk and trump in the same breath now that he is the president.

I didn't care about trump's business and still dont. Would never support any of his golf courses or hotels and surely would quote or sell him anything for a construction project. But who cares...nobody. I feel the same about musk. Don't like it, don't buy in or buy what he's selling. Nobody cares. He just a businessman.

it's totally funny that they are both cults of personality with devoted fans driven by a toxic search for confirmation bias and that toxicity is often mirrored in their foes. real funny sociological stuff.

    ^ha!

Tesla has made it's way into my area. You'd typically see maybe one a month a year ago and now I see multiple a day.

That's not a pickup truck. Pretty much like Bruce Jenner going under the knife and calling himself female.

    just watched this documentry
it was pretty disturbing, to think that at least half of silcon valley and these start ups are people full of shit with hanger ons hoping to get rich off of at least one fucked up idea

the best quote and I paraphrase had something to do with: if silcone valley is making an app with a cute emoji that's one thing, but when your playing with a human life that's another, pretty much silcone valley shouldn't be be buildling self driving cars and medical devices because it's so far out of their realm

Well, this is encouraging. Maybe they should get together with Boeing engineers for a few brews.

Yeah, people should always drive, but maybe not all people. Definitely not computers.

The company’s stock jumped by about 7% in after-market trading. Tesla also hinted at a strong third quarter, saying it’s entering the period with a backlog of orders.

CEO Elon Musk set investors’ expectations high in a companywide email on June 25, saying the electric car maker was on course to deliver a record number of vehicles throughout the quarter. He wasn’t exaggerating. The company delivered 95,200 cars during the the three months ending June 30 — a 51.1% increase over an admittedly weak first quarter and besting its previous record of 90,700 deliveries set in the fourth quarter of 2018.

Wonder where the burden of proof lies in terms of demonstrating a disregard for promissory arrangements like that. Seems to be dancing on the wrong side of the law.

It's like FSD. Tesla has been charging 5k for that shit and it doesn't exist. Going on for years now. I know nobody cares because "save teh world" * ends justify means logic, but still... ayfkm?

Why would they sue in the US? Why wouldn't the Indian customer sue in India? The South African sue in South Africa? No matter the level of bullshitting that "Tesla is a software company" it makes it's money selling cars to people and it's ultimately subject to whatever laws in the country it's selling cars in or country it wants to sell cars in.

I'm more curious the backlog of referral code vehicles owed.
