They announced the RV service a few months ago, most folks just started getting deliveries last week. You're not supposed to use them in motion, but they got rid of the home service zone so it works anywhere it can connect.

That's dope. I've been watching as a full time van guy. Saw one on top of a promaster the other day.

I'll get on board eventually. Hopefully price and size comes down..

Users who activate the feature will see the base price for Starlink service increase to $135 a month, from $110 a month.

Notably, many users in the past year self-reported on social media that they were able to move Starlink dishes outside of the address that they had registered for service, without seeing significant disruptions to service. Starlink has been increasingly embraced by the nomadic, "vanlife" community due to its relativity high speeds – but SpaceX is now charging a price for that flexibility.
So you guys are paying $135/month for #vanlife internet?

Yep. Which is less than I paid for 5g simcards last time I spent time working from Europe for about a month. And certainly cheaper than any alternative solution that would let me work reliably from the road in places I want to be. Wife and I both work remotely for software companies, I wouldn't be doing this to stream netflix and pornhub, but it's nice that I can.

Eventually I'm building a cabin somewhere, will jump in then. Nice you can pause service whenever.

I'm happy w my mint plan. 40g of data for 30$ a month. That and wifi gets me by.

‘Unlimited’ 5G at $35/mo has been enough for me, but I am sorta starlink curious since I’m often in low cellular signal areas. Can I pay in dogecoin?

I now have both home 5G AND Cable internet

I got the $25/month Verizon Home 5G plan and was crawling back to evil ISP Rectum Cable within a month. 5G here, goes out intermittently at least 10 times a day, but only fr only for a few seconds. Spectrum does that too though.

I can see the 5G tower from my driveway.. like 500 yards away.

It went out for 6 hours the day after I had cancelled the Spectrum.. No in home tech support available. It came back 4 hours after I had factory reset my modem/router and I had to re connect everything even though I renamed it the same name and same password after the reset. The fact that it was still out AFTER the factory reset and rebooting several times proved it was the tower Home 5G signal and not the box that was out. The Home 5G runs on a different frequency than my cell phone signal so I am still able to hotspot when the Home 5G is out. So, there's that.

Then, 2 weeks after that, same shit, totally out for hours and hours. But this time still no signal a full day after the 2nd factory reset. Support told me to go to the Verizon store and get a new box. Went there, they said they don't have customer service support replacement boxes there either.. So, back home and back on the phone support maze. They shipped me a new modem/router and that worked.. So gear sucks, signal 500 yards away with good line of sight also sucks. While waiting for the new Verizon box, I went back in to my Spectrum account and saw that I now qualify for the new or returning customer of $49.99/month for 2 years. So I ordered that too

Next day and now I have both Verizon Home 5G, $25/month AND Rectum Cable 400 mps Internet for $49.99/month. I was paying $95.99/month for Rectum alone before this. Google and AT&T fiber isn't available here. DSL is the only other option.

Both 5G and Cable have gone out since doubling up a few weeks ago but not at the same time. Keeping both for as long as it's still less than one is post new customer rates. When that ends I will play them off against eachother to get the entry level rates again.
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

Are you using it in one of the areas that's marked as "waitlist" on their map and getting those kind of speeds? Or one of the areas that's marked as "available"?

    Asking because of this note:
"Users can expect high speed, low latency internet in areas marked "Available", and notably slower speeds during hours of peak usage in areas marked as "Waitlist" or during events with many collocated users."

I'm in a waitlisted, "expanding in 2023" area. I've only tested it a few times so far, but it's been consistently between 150-300 mbps and 30-70ms latency.

In other "Elon Musk is a complete clown" news, maybe don't show up 15 minutes late, looking disheveled, via remote video to a team you've spent the last month stressing the importance of in-person work to. https://www.theverge.com/2022/6/17/2...witter-meeting

Awesome. This is the exact scenario I would be in so that's super helpful.
My other internet option at the location in question is a line-of-sight wireless solution 25 Mbps up/5 down or dialup speed satellite internet so this is uhhhh slightly better.

Why you guys acting like being one of the knocked up chicks or bastard love children of the richest guy on the planet is a BAD thing? I'd happily be one of those people. For the ladies, it'd be hella awesome child support and for the kids, they're gonna be rich. There are certainly worse fates out there than being set for life. I'd gladly trade my life for any of theirs. Financially at least. Lol

Actually, no, no one seems to be arguing that. I don't have the faintest idea how this is your takeaway.

That said, I'm not sure that the Zilis situation really qualifies as typical cheating douchebaggery given Musk and Grimes' non-marital on-again/off-again relationship and the kid was being carried by a surrogate. Not that anyone has anything to be proud of here, either.

Well, I don’t know. Typical mores and values seem derived from an extremely reductionist approach to making sure adequate supports are in place and promoting general health and well being. This situation is a problem if everybody is below the poverty level, but none of it has to be any kind of problem at all if you’re a gajillionaire. Maybe everybody is very proud and justifiably so?

I’m just being argumentative and am not defending anybody, to be clear. This is just tabloid fodder and I’m just avoiding work.
    focus.

No way that happened by coincidence. He’s obviously into some bio engineering stuff.
