So full of shit. JPM won Monte Carlo. Names like Brabham,Daly,Rahal were in that race.
Bordais, Sato, and Rossi all raced F1
I'd put Hawksworth and Newgarden on short lists of great young formula drivers.
I got Mansells autograph at the 93 race where you are always a rookie the first time. I also met Nelson Piquet who is very illusive. Lots of great autographs. Eddie Lawson, AJ, Sullivan, Mears, Gurney, Piquet, Mario, Fittipaldi, Arie, Zanardi, Al sr and junior, bobby Unser ( my fave driver), Tom Sneva.

100th Indianapolis 500
Regarding tits at Indy. The best place, without question, to see tit back in the day was on the sidelines of the exit tunnel from the infield and snake pit heading out to the north forty after the race. It was a free pass for the ladies because they were riding in cars and there were no consequences. A flash on the exit and gone. No afterglow. The pit crews and safety teams would be there for the show. It was awesome. Only at Indy.
The Coke lot got pretty good for a few years with the makeshift stripper poles but that has been shutdown.
The popularity of the race is back because the college kids embrace the party weekend and they have added entertainment on Friday and Saturday night. I saw Skynard a few years ago and it was the perfect band for Indy. Sweet Home Indiana.

Rossi may have a chance to be back in the Manor F1 car later this season. Haryanto's money seams to be running out and might not last to the end of the season. If this happens it means Rossi has a seat again in F1.
The reason you do not see F1 drivers racing Indy and vice versa is schedule conflicts and contracts. Several drivers would love the chance to jump around series more. Sadly most driver contracts will not allow that. It would be great to see drivers move around more and race other series while in their prime. Now they focus on one series and after they have peaked they might move on to another series just to keep some kind of driving career going.

I know. It's just one way big money has hurt sports. It happened earlier in F1. For years top F1 drivers were competing with other superstars as highest world earners. Hey, everybody wants to be rich, especially if you'll be killed in the process.
I witnessed Jimmy Clark, Graham Hill, Fittapaldi, and Mansell at Indy, and watched Andretti and Foyt go to Europe and win (Foyt assessing LeMans: just a little country road in France). But, sorry, no way you can point at that field and tell me there's an F1 champion or LeMans winner in it. Minor leagues.
Two words: Michael Andretti. I think Eccleston was making a point with that one.Last edited by Benny Profane; 05-31-2016 at 07:37 PM.

While not winners Pagenaud and Bourdais both have solid Le Mans credentials in factory LMP1 prototypes including 2nd place finishes.
But the WEC and DTM have long ago replaced Indycars as the step on at the end of either a successful or unsuccessful F1 career. Formula E increasingly too/
Michael Andretti is a tosser.. He signed on to be team mates with the greatest driver in history and got promptly demolished not only because of a lack of talent but because he tried to do it part time and commute backwards and forwards to McLaren from the states.

Michael Andretti had a lot of talent. Commitment, not so much. Always fat and out of shape.

Setting up to be a good finish. Fuel should not be an issue.

Nice to see em run again today (even I had to watch the DVRd version after the fact). I think Penske is going to do really well for the track and the series.
No other race, or track, does such a good job of conveying flat out, raw, speed than Indy. So fun to watch.
Actually a pretty nice weekend of motorsport to load up my DVR: IMSA at Virginia (which saw the new C8R Vette win GTLM Class), Indy, 3 NASCAR races in 2 days and whatever parade route F1 had this week.I still call it The Jake.
