Boy, are the Olympics going to suck

This today: http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/05/18...be-barred.html and Brazil is going down the tubes with the impeachment of their head of state and the worst recession in decades. The rowing events are going to take place in a toxic bay, and a bike path to be used for racing just had a section fall into the ocean.
It just gets worse and worse.

The world is perfect. Appreciate the details.

Bunny think everything he's not doing right now sucks and is for idiots or pleebs

With that said, it will be interesting, Brazil is Swirling down the shitter, behind schedule and broke. They have major water pollution problems at the competition venue, and it's looking like Russia may be completely barred from competing due to state sponsored doping during the last two olympics

Want to make some big bucks? Invest in a tanker full of bottled water and ship it to Brazil for the games. That shit will be selling for $15-$20 a bottle.

I care about sailing but I also know that it's a niche following. They get to compete in the open water sewer venue too.
I still call it The Jake.

They have said the same thing about just about every Olympics since about 400BC. So far they've all worked out OK, at least as far as the sports; not necessarily economically for the host city or country.

Boy are the Olympics going to be awesome

Not necessarily for the people that have to participate, but I look forward to watching it for sure

the whole zika thing, waters being so so contaminated etc- I don't envy the athletes this round but I still look forward to seeing the competition

Other than the winter downhill I can't say that there has been much from the Olympics in my recent memory that hasn't sucked imo.

There's been some good hockey and Michael Phelps, otherwise would agree.

My old man turned down a free trip from work for all the reasons listed....

I row in a toxic river and have done so for the last 6 years. All these years later I still occasionally have nightmares about falling in with the belly up fish I regularly hit with my oar and the used condoms that the slight current stretches out to their max size.

    Solution: don't fall in.

It's going to be entertaining for sure.

it's going to be sad, vulgar and predatory, as usual. considering how many people and how much money get totally fucked in a different country every winter and summer olympics not to mention world cup, these events should be held in the same place every time, assuming they keep happening.

You don't have to imagine it, you can just look at the World Cup stadiums.
