Just shut off the TV.
I've had enough...
I really only subscribe to TV for one reason... Watching Yankee games. We've watched ~150 games/season for the last 20+ years. Come home, turn on the game.
Since moving to CO, we've been DirecTV subscribers. We don't get cable or hard wired internet, so that's been the one solution for MLB. Over the last four years the delivery of the games has only gotten worse. Probably the most frustrating permutation of those issues is coming home to find that the "Record My Team" function has recorded the NESN broadcast of the Yankees-Red Sox game. The second most frustrating is when the system only records a portion of the game - sometimes as little as a minute... That was what happened tonight. We've had innumerable discussions with the DTV folks, and they've always assured me that the issues would be resolved... but they're not being resolved. And tonight, coming home to find 90 seconds of the game recorded was the last straw. So I'm currently watching my last episode of MLB Tonight... Would it make a difference if the Yankees were 16-8 instead of 8-16? Yeah, it probably would. But they're not, and it doesn't. Fuck DirecTV and their inept receiver software. When the Yankees are in contention, I'll consider subscribing to MLB.TV. In the meantime, there's internet radio.
The only other thing we watch is Top Gear, and I can buy every episode on DVD for less than 2 months subscription to DTV. Fuck DTV.

Live: Sports. Some News events
DVR: GoT, Anthony Bourdain, Jeopardy, John Oliver, South Park, Robot Chicken.
If CNN was OTA and the HBO GO stream is for real open to anyone I could give up Cable... once my wife stops watching her shows and my kids leave.

C'mon now. If others had your attitude, how would you expect these guys to live on less than 5-10 million a year. I don't think $100+ seats, $7.00 hot dogs and $10 beers are gonna be enough.

Red Sox Bruins NFL is why I pay DirecTV a shit ton of money in more than one place. This is stupid for sure. But it's about worth it. I mean, Red Sox Bruins NFL. I like it.

Fuck CNN since they went all Faux Lite and shit.
Edit to add: Maybe you and Anthony are friends given your line of work, in which case you are excused. Otherwise, why in the name of all that is good and holy does one need to watch him slurp noodles in all of the noodle bars on Earth? I'll give it one benefit though, it is a powerful appetite suppressant. It grosses me right out. Watching people eat in general. Him especially. However, different folks for different strokes.I see hydraulic turtles.

I am waiting to see what AT&T comes up with (targeted 4th quarter) for Internet only packages for DirecTV when bundled with cell phone service.

I like it too.. But the technical problems don't ever get resolved. It's just too much money for the stuff to not work correctly. Not sure what our bill is, but including MLB, it's around $150/month. Honestly, I'd pay twice that if it worked perfectly... Or maybe half that for how it works now... But as it stands, I can not watch the games for free, rather than keep paying DTV for the privilege. They're so close to offering a good service, but they haven't gotten any closer in the last three years... I'll sign up again when they've got it straightened out.
