Adventure Racing: School me.
1. Don't know where to put this, so it goes in "General";
2.Search function still stinks;
3. School me on adventure racing!
Girlfriend and I signed up for this as an easy start (6hr):
http://goalsara.org/2016-races/edge-adventure-races/
This is a good start b/c: it's relatively flat, the water is calm and warm, and we know the area.
But, then there's stuff on a whole 'nother level, like:
http://www.usara.com/calendar/default.aspx
and everything in between
Any tips, pointers, knowledge we should have before starting?
Notes:
1) We are doing it just for fun, so it's a "race" only in the sense that we have to finish before the deadline;
2) I'm pretty good on a bike, she's a beginner;
3) She's slower on the run, but I don't mind running with her;
4) Neither of us are competent boaters/rafters (we've both been kayaking a handful of times);
5) She's betterer at orienteering, but I can read a compass and map;
6) We work together really well...whether painting a room, camping, geo-caching, whatever...
I think it will be fun, but is there anything we should know to make it more fun?It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.
I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

Navigation is huge as I'm sure you're aware. Also, take good care of your feet and keep you shoes dry if possible.
