Estelle Balet dies in Swiss Avalanche
Sad news from the alps today. Fresh off her second Freeride World Tour Championship Estelle died while filming in Switzerland

According to the report they recovered her out of the snow right away but she died on the scene from severe injuries sustained during the 3000 ft tumble.

Major bummer. In one respect, it's very sad to see avalanche fatalities involving women are becoming much more common than they used to be. On the other hand, I suppose it's good to know that more ladies are charging these days.

Not avy related, but Billy Poole died while filming for Warren Miller in January 2008.

Billy was an absolute stud, always hurts to see peeps so full of life go away in this style. RIP Estelle, prayers to your fam, the world will miss all the things you most certainly would have accomplished.
