Just saw a new Lincoln Continental yesterday and was astonished to find that it was a really good looking car. This pic doesn't quite do it justice..

Bullshit. The super high waistlines are trend driven, maybe crash rating driven, but not aerodynamically driven.

If anything the pedestrian impact rating has a bigger effect on the front half of the car than the aero. We don't yet have big bullets on the road

It's not bullshit it's physics. But you're right about the pedestrian crash standards as a big factor too. And side-impact standards are affecting the waitstlines too. You can crease this, bend that, tweak the other thing but the manufacturers need more milage from their fleets and aero is a huge part of that effort. And there's only so many ways to skin that cat.

Lol... I remember reading something to that effect re: one of the concept cars. The car I saw yesterday didn't look anything like a Bentley. It was good looking, but while it would never be confused with an expensive car, it also managed to avoid falling into the Chrysler 300 trap.

That's the jist of it, but that's the concept... The production model they showed is white and just doesn't indicate how cool this car looked from the rear end.

Agreed... I don't know which model it is, but there's one that is a straight rip off of the last 5 series.

That being said, and especially by that standard, I don't see a ton of similarity between that S class you posted and the new Lincoln.

In the last two years, seems like every crew cab pickup has upturned rear window sills on the back door. WTF ? Can't blame that dumb styling on CAFE, that is just being lazy.

edit: I like the grill of the new Tacoma, but no manual transmission = FAIL.
