Soaking in Hot Beer?
This establishment just opened in our little 'hood
A friend stopped by and learned the following:
- Your basic fiberglass hot tubs are filled with hot beer, distributed by standard hot tub jets for evervescense
- The tubs are flushed/cleaned/refilled at indeterminate intervals, and certainly not between customers
- They were evasive when asked about methods of treating the beer between customers

Soaking in Hot Beer?
Ever wonder what happens to the leftover Pumpkin Spice IPA that no one drinks?

Doesn't alcohol absorb through the skin? Seems like a really stupid idea.

Have fun explaining to the cops on the way home from the spa that you weren't drinking.
I still call it The Jake.

^^^You can stumble completely across our town in about 15 min. No need to drive.
I just keep thinking about the science project created when you leave a glass of beer out on a warm day. Throw in some dead skin and body fluids, and you could probably create some new life forms in the primordial soup of those tubs!

If Central Oregon is at peak beer establishment capacity this is a sure sign.

Wow, that's pretty vile. I love beer, particularly the aromas imparted by different hops. In fact, someone called me out for smelling my beer so frequently the other day. That being said, no beer smells good when it's hot. I cannot imagine how gross it would be to sit with your face 1-2 feet from a couple hundred gallons of hot, turbulent beer. Ugh.

Are you sure they don't just serve you beer while you soak in the tub? My hot tub is 400 gallons, I can't imagine they would fill a tub with beer. Even a 50/50 mix would be insanely expensive.

Oh it's diluted - imagine the foam created by the jets. And the expense is likely why the liquid is not drained/refilled after every use.
They also have smaller individual (cedar) soaking tubs with no jets.
I hear our local health clinic is hiring an infectious disease specialist...

No carb=no foam
The wort is boiled to kill any bugs but all that sugar will quickly grow/attract critters.
Post ferment is usually filtered but not always. The hops and al key hall is beneficial to prevent infarcshuns but reusing without some sort of treatment is a gr8 way to spread New and mutated diseases.watch out for snakes

Like wouldn't this just be asking for a yeast infection?

I received a trip to beer spa in Štramberk, CZ (http://www.pivni-lazne-stramberk.info/) as a wedding gift from the in-laws (I don't think I'd have sought it out otherwise). There, they served beer from the town brewery (next door) on a tap like you see in the picture, but the bath itself was mostly water with "beer extract" that, as near as I could tell, was some sort of beer reduction or something like that, with other herbs/salts added. It smelled hoppy and malty, like beer, but sweeter, more like wort. They said it was made from unfiltered beer, and that the yeast was important to the health benefits (which apparently include an ability to treat psoriasis and cellulite).
I'd guess that maybe they're doing something more along those lines? I'd definitely get on board for a bath that smelled like Centennial hops...
