They hire you to take down the Alaskan way viaduct or something? Get on that shit.
    We should grab lunch sometime.

Do not order the shrimp salad at the space needle restaurant. They literally just dump a can of mini shrimp on the salad.

Isn't it considerably more fancy than that with the recent remodel?

I know it used to be little better than an expensive rotating Dennys.

No, that is our big yellow and black competitor that got that job. Supposed to start as soon as Tutor commissions the tunnel and WashDOT opens it to traffic. We're actually looking at the seawall improvement job under it.

My lunches are booked. When I'm up there, I'm there for 17 hours of scheduled meetings in 2 days, not counting dinner with traveling coworkers. We get lunch catered, and by the time I'm out of the meeting that ran long, the office vultures ate my share. Happy hour? I'm usually done around 5 on Tuesdays.

Could you maybe build that seawall a few feet higher than planned?

The Athenian at Pike Place used to be an authenic dive with solid clam chowder. Probably not fancy enough?
Maximiliens used to be a similar sort of dumpy French place in the market but has gone upscale. The little bar upstairs was always cool and I remember tasty moules marinier there.
Place Pigalle also has a tiny bar that used to have a broad spectrum of Armagnac.

We did not like RN74: too loud, tiny portions.

Sorry I haven’t read the latest posts here but is anybody here still going to downtown Seattle for anything other than a miserable job?

Not here, other than for maybe half a dozen M's games per year. Fortunately that's positioned for a quick entry and exit.

If you make it to Deception Pass, the Shrimp Shack north of the bridge had some of the best chowder I've ever had off of the East Coast.

    40 hours in downtown Seattle.

    Seattle for:
    Plays, Dance, concerts
    Assorted fundraisers (like NWAC)
    M’s
    Sounders
Dinner (restaurants and assorted friend’s places)
    3 different marches
Yesterday to REI for new hiking boots and binoculars
    Etc., etc., etc.,
Cities in general are cool places.
Well maybe I'm the faggot America

Had lunch there the other day with Thing #1 for his birthday. It's just as authentic as ever, but as everywhere the prices have gone up. Can't beat the vibe and the view though, especially in the bar. Been going there for the better part of 50 years. Love it.

yeah, definitely - like $5-8 range and 1-2 can serve as dinner. i know your standards - will not blow your mind but good enough they’d probably make you order alcohol with your food, but at least the mugs are frosty.

Love the frosty mugs. I like good food but am far from a snob. If it tastes good I'll eat it. And if it's cheap that makes it tastier.

My MO there has always been to slide into a window booth at the bar and grab fish and chips and a beer. That looks like a solid HH offering though..
