Below average guitar playing ... that's my goal for the year.
I might just start taking bass lessons again (only did it for 6 months). Like drumming (only less so), this might turn my attention to rhythm.
it's a good thing you don't have to ski in 4/4 time, because I'd really suck at it ;-)

I’m finally playing again. Broke my left ring finger a while back. Haven’t been able to play much in almost 2 months it’s still real stiff and pretty swollen. But I’ve got a Martin that stares at me when I ignore it.

Looks like the D-18 I sadly parted with. Think I'm gonna try a 000-18 or 28.
Martin sure does make some great looking and sounding instruments.

Moved from the dobro to an upright bass. Much easier progress! Take the fiddle and flip the strings over. At least I can find notes and chords now.
In order to properly convert this thread to a polyasshat thread to more fully enrage the liberal left frequenting here...... (insert latest democratic blunder of your choice).

So, whenever I get together with buddies, it degenerates into serial solo playing 'coz we're never on the same page and they don't seem to have an interest in learning to play with anyone. Good thing for jam tracks ;-)

Yea tony Polecastro. I almost bought one of those guilds a while back. I wish I had now sitting on the beach in Maui with nothing to play.

Tony's the man!
Yeah, so here we are, another season staying up late pissing off the neighbors and entertaining the owls. I had no time for such tom foolery this winter, but find I'm better now than when I hung it up last fall.
Lame? Nope. Fun as hell if you have the time, and I've got nothing better to do right now.

Recently acquired a 4 channel PA, it allows you to play along with songs and be at the right level in the mix. Also fun to karaoke with, as well as playing with friends. My girlfriend and several of my friends are drummers, damn time Nazis.

This guitar shit is hard. I've got time so I'm going for it. I'm 4 days into playing 1/2 hour every day.
Any recs for free online lessons?

Check out Justin Guitar. He structures it pretty well so you don't feel overwhelmed.
The way he teaches the CAGED system (intermediate level stuff) is with an eye toward learning the neck (not limiting it to pattern learning).
A lot of people teach CAGED as pattern learning, which is great, but can become a crutch, and stunt long term progress.

Keeping Time
... brought back memories and made me laugh - Thank you.
( we probably ought to dispense with the Nazi references ( but I suppose we can thank 'Seinfeld' for his 'soup nazi' reference )
anyway. my soapbox for the day.
I still like the militant potential for 'keeping time' ...

I am teaching myself to play guitar. Mostly, I just think of a tune that I would like to learn and go to youtube for a (not so) quick lesson
So far, I am comfortable with For What It's Worth, Melissa and All I Can Do Is Write About It.
It kind of sucks, because I am a southpaw, and I am teaching myself righty.

A big problem for me with Niel Young's tunes is that a lot is played with a tuned down guitar.
