Sweet looking sticks
I wouldn't worry about those skins at all. Almost all your traction comes from under your foot , or up to a few inches front/back of your foot. Every skimo racer cuts theirs short like that on skinny little skis. I've bought several pairs of skins that are as wide as the waist, or slightly wider, not worrying about the extra width of the tips and tails and zero negative effects. Save the weight, no pressure in those spots

I typically agree with da grinch but if your using those uphill in dicey terrain you need every oz per unit weight vs gravity weight per friction sq unit of available length due to leverage (or some shit equation of the sort). While I do agree 75% underfoot is 85% of touring, while sliding backwards or in sketch turns or just in super icey/windblown crampon spots, that rear section accounts for a ton of hairs per contact in the back seat(i.e gravity vs usable friction). FWIW I roll high traction because the terrain I tour is mostly a LOT of steep up in dicey snowpack so this probably doesn't have the emphasis it does if your in a different terrain situation and while my skis look the same to a point, IMHO that is way to short of a contact length, i would sell those in a hurry and take the loss.

also, FWIW I have no issue undercutting a skin width wise a couple cm to make an old skin fit, and as I said my G3's do taper quite a bit over the tail of my ski's rockered sections, just not even close to those pictures. But, touring is 1000% about efficiency so if that works for folks in their terrain then fkna, just wouldn't work in mine

Oh yes, those wind hammered slopes. No Bueno. Need max traction there. Fortunately I don't have to worry too much about that with that width of touring ski. If there is a section crampons ftw

IME if the tail strap is already maxed out you may have a problem if/when you need to replace the strap
I had to cut the strap off of a G3 skin because the strap is molded into the end also there is a bumpy thing there so had to cut even more off of the skin then the replacement strap might not go long enough
Also maybe if you try to put those on another ski the tail strap will not fit and you are missing alot of skin there IMO
so if you can exchange for the longer skins ... do soLee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know
