    Battle Abbey Jan 2016

    Moonrise at the Abbey

    The Abbey at night.

The sisters Galley. Jane (on the right) is a JH fixture. The chick goes up like teenaged boy and down like a stud. I want to be like Jane when I grow up

Booting up (without me). I was skiing somewhere else probably not as cool, but hey I'm not averse to posting other peoples photos up without their permission and calling them mine.

    Loucksie throwing em down

    Robbie going away

This one reminds me of the Chilcoot trail. Not because we are going to chase gold in the interior of BC, or because it was taken in the late 1800's. But because we had tons of great wine, excellent food and soup awaiting us at the lodge at the end of the day - just like the gold prospectors of old.

    Another Loucksie

First Acensionist Billy B. Slayer of Yamnuska, buyer of good wine.

For this photo I stood where ace guide Roger Laurilla told me too, used the shutter and aperture he suggested and then clicked. Basically it's his photo, but whatever, it came from my camera card.... suck it Roger

Hut co-owner and co-worker Loree, having fun on the home spread.

Rookie Saskatchewan tourer Leanne, not harvesting canola.

Vivian and Roger doing the duo.

    Custodian Chris crushing it.

    Vivian happy.

Another wicked trip to the Abbey. Fun side note, ran into Drommond and a Seattle crew exiting the hut as we were going in. Sounds like they had an amazing time as well. If you can get into this place (it books up at least a year in advance, best to book 2 years ahead to be safe), do it. You will be a happy person (and likely better) if you do.

    Thanksacinpdx!
Now I will overwhelm you with more! haha look at them all you bastards! HA!

    Lovely Lizzie looking lascivious.

Her hubbie Robin. They're core. Got up Logan and didn't die but came close. Fun apres ski conversation!

We think that's Robin waving his hands in the air like he just don't care.

    My favorite photo subject Vivian.

    Jackson Jane going deep.

Me. Guess I didn't take this one.

More Jane on what was one of two of the most fun pillow lines I've skied in memory. That day we had about 70 - 80cms of storm snow (minus 7C - 10ish ). Damn fine day.

Loucksie and I having a hoot.

Robin photo-ing me. Yes I am vain. Sorry. Eh.

    Happy Vivian.

    Happy Lizzie.

Happy Ellie, our chef. Yes, ours! All ours (sorry Chris we love her too much).

Caretaker Chris. Spouse of Ellie, destroyer of snow.

    More Loucksie, photo slut.

    Robin going deep.

My boss Robbie. What an amazing skier and philanthropist. What an amazing human being. All hail to Robbie! Slayer of pow, employer of me.

Lizzie showing of her Wayne Wong school of deep pow skiing. Unorthodox but effective.

Wow, just Wow, what a sweet looking trip.

Glad you had fun, though I can't imagine not having fun with conditions like that.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

Damn! Lucky you. I'm jealous. Last March was less than ideal conditions, but still a great time. The food was unbelievable, too, thanks to Ellie & Chris.

We were there during the Robson tragedy and had Voile make some commemorative straps for Roger. Just curious if any were still floating around at the Abbey?

    Best regards, Terry

Yep, sunny for a few days of great travel, then stormed like a muthafucka. Pretty much perfect. Al, you do need to hit this place up even if it's just to compare it to Burnie. Very different experiences.

Hard not to eh? The place is not only comfortable as hell, but the terrain right out the door up or down is incredible. Not to mention Ellie's cooking... god damn...

Nice Dromond! I couldn't help but giggle like hell when one of the lassie's in your group said "hey your pizza at LBD was great". Too funny buddy. Ellie had good things to say bout you guys! But she loves us best damn it.

Now now Grape Ape, there is no need to be so hard on yourself. It is just precision planning and execution that allows me to experience deep pow every time I go out. I will be offering a clinic/seminar on "how to ski pow every day like a champ" at BBI17 if you can please attend. I'll bring bacon!

So you guys were going in when we were coming out last year. I'm guessing I passed you in the transfer. Didn't see any of the straps kicking around. Yeah, we sure lucked out (or see post above this one - perhaps it was just good planning and logistics on my part...)

If you want a strap, send address. I have a handful left. You deserve one for:
    A) Planning Excellence
    B) Posting great stoke shots of a special place.

Yeah Guido! New helmut (nice and light and ventie). You will not believe this, BUT TNF spansership (hahaha) continues. Yep, brand newie for this year.... I love those guys and can't really believe it's lasted so long. It's working well though. Even if the alpental regulars think it's way to flashie (read visible, read people can see you and follow you, read like people you don't want following you). They do have a point, however free shit is free shit buddy.

Well CTR looks like you got some beta from the Icefall TR. You can also try the interior BC thread and ask those guys. Personally I would delete your inquiry as it's own Trip Report thread. That doesn't seem like the spot for it, eh?
