3 parts tequila
2 parts triple sec
1 part lime juice (fresh squeezed only)I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

I was thinking that was a little heavy on the triple sec... then I usually go for 2 tequila, 1/2 triple sec, 1 lime juice (fresh of course) and 1/4 agave syrup. Occasionally I'll muddle 4-5 fresh slices of jalapeño in the shaker if I am after a slightly spicy marg,
I don't work and I don't save, desperate women pay my way.

Triple Sec is shit.
Grand Marnier FTW

Triple sec being the generic term for Curacao Pierre Ferrand (which is better than Grand Marnier IMO)... kinda like tequila being the generic term for something other that the shit collage kids drink on spring break.

My most recent recipe was 4:1 tequila to grand marinier, a little bit of triple sec (less than 1oz), with 2 parts mix and then 1-1.5 fresh limes squeezed in there, in oz, which makes about 2.
But now I have a bottle of cointreau as well and am trying to get that one dialed in. Last night I had it at 3:1 tequila to cointreau, like 1.5oz mix, a lime, and then a bit of grand marinier poured on top of the margarita in the glass. Seemed acceptable. Also helps to use good tequila. I'm using an anejo called el padrino that was highly rated at total wine and only cost $26.

Second on Triple Sec being schwag as fuck. Tequila has to be Hornitos, too. Lately I've been lazy and just get grapefruit juice to go with the Hornitos. So good--jamal you should try it instead of "mix".

Cointreau for the win. GM never made much sense for a Margarita...

Sometimes, simple is best...
Tommy’s Margarita
2 ounces 100% agave tequila
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1/2 ounce agave nectar

I'm a big fan of Espolòn Reposado. Great mixing tequila and can usually be found for under $25 a bottle.
If I feel like mixing it up, I'll do
2 parts tequila
2 parts fresh lime juice
1 part Cointreau
Splash of agave
I prefer Cointreau over Grand Marnier for both taste and presentation. GM makes the margarita a little brown.Because rich has nothing to do with money.

Yep. Grand Marnier doesn't make sense because it's cognac based...

hehhe yup
A while ago I got this stuff - Caffo Solara Triple Grand Grand Liqueur. mmm mmm good in a margarita. Description shamelessly borrowed from wine enthusiast website - Made with brandy and oranges from southern Italy, this orange liqueur is rich and authentic, with orange peel and blossom aromas and flavors as well as a long, vanilla-forward finish. A flicker of alcohol-derived heat balances out the sweetness.

Like to say I'm a purist but the best margarita I've had was made with tequila, triple sec, lime, lemon, simple syrup, and egg white served over big square ice cubes. Yeah, they make a difference.

3:2:1
3: Silver tequila, I like Milagro
2: Cointreau or Citronage
1: fresh-squeezed lemon juice, Meyer lemons if you can get them. Limes are generally more bitter.
And, yeah, shaken.

That was my mistake yesterday. Won't forget on Thursday. I have a bottle of ancient vine Zin waiting to be opened (and emptied.)
