When I’m traveling via plane I make sure I’m plenty high on edibles. Always take a few with me as well. All the bullshit that happens during travel is so much easier to deal with when you’re just floating through all the people in your own happy world.

Edibles are so great for traveling. Easy to take, no smell, discrete. I try to wait til I’m past security before taking mine

They don’t care. Imagine trying to police that many people a day with all the various vapes out there? Yeah not going to happen.

I walk right through TSA with edibles and my vape, which I only take on trips because they don’t do much for me. I’m a flower and concentrates. But the vape seems to take a slight edge off if no access to my normals. Hell I brought back a few g’s of dabs in my backpack. Not one worry. And the dogs walk right by me. Last flight out of Seattle had ripped bong hits before getting dropped off, definitely smelled like weed and not even a look from the dogs.

Didn't they have to retire a whole lot of dogs and train new ones when weed reached the "actually, we don't care" status for most law enforcement? Thought I read something about that in one of the articles about legalization.

I've not had an issue (yet) gate-checking a carry on, but what happens if you have to deplane and the flight is cancelled? Does the bag stay with checked luggage or get back to you?

I ask after spending an extra day in Yurp last year due to a flight cancellation and really, really wishing I had more stuff in my carry on. Checked bag stayed with the airline and just got loaded on the flight I ended up on.

Here is the info on the new Terminal A project at EYW I have been working on all week.

    https://www.airport-technology.com/p...nal-expansion/

I am not sure if they are doing away with tarmac boarding and unloading now, or if this only applies to some of the bigger planes that come in. We fly regional airlines down there, so it is always a little bit more of an island feel when we step off the plane.

The contractor I have been speaking with indicated that Covid really fast forwarded this, as Monroe County limited cruise ships. They realized really quickly that by doing so, more and more people chose to fly in. The county makes a lot more $$ off flights than they do cruise ships, so they have gone all in on updating the airport, and cruise terminal docking are now limited to smaller ships that don't block out the entire Mallory Sq sunset.

Man, I lived in Key West from '73-'76. That airport looked nuthin' like that.

I flew in once in a Douglas DC3 and it was a touch, hop and stop. Big marsh at the end of the runway. Smathers Beach off to the east.

Lived in Navy housing out on Sigsbee. Got a Mercury Morris signature at the Sears store right after their big season.

Mallory square, the conch train, local aquarium, shrimp boats and deep sea fishing charter boat row.

If I am checked bags, then I agree.

I figure board first for first class makes sense for preflight drinks. I got upgraded, it was a good price, and was excited and got on first... imagine my disappointment when United said "nope no predeparture drinks." Seriously? Internet said they were doing that. Guess I should stay back behind the bulkhead with my silly expectations

I'll tell you what is a perk, though: being near the front of the plane. It's crazy how long it takes to deplane because everyone seems to have a bag in the overhead.
This is why they should charge for carry-ons and not for checked. Airlines extended their boarding process by incentivizing carry-ons.

The wild shit is still when someone tries to pop their bag up in the front and they are seated in the back when it is not a last-on-only-location situation. I think if someone did that in front of me at my row, I'd just take their bag down and set it in the aisle... let them do a walk of shame.

For us low hanging minions, they call them airliner bottles for a reason. We get to chat up all the secretaries and support staff and bang in the coach bathrooms a couple miles high as a kite.

But we don't have those AMEX or points cards, we just scromp.

Airport related and some would argue the worst airline… I’m flying Spirit this weekend for the first time. Any tips or advice? I already paid for our seats and carry-on bags.

I suggested that very thing a few years ago in some thread and got a ration of shit for it. I agree with you.

^if the cabin crew sees a passenger try to pull that they'll usually reprimand the passenger and demand they take their bag back to their assigned seat

It really is amazing how blatantly selfish people will act in front of everyone because they don't expect to be called out on it. They know exactly what they are doing. They carried that bag 4000ft to get to the plane, but will fuck over everyone to not carry it another 40 feet on the plane.

Isn't that the truth. It's like most people just become unaware self-important douches as soon as they get on a jetway.

    Solid advice.

I'd suggest taking the traveling party to a Waffle House at about 1:00am to sharpen your skills. Hell, you may even see your flight crew there.

If your crew sees you smash a chair over the back of a loudmouth inside a Waffle House at like 2 am, there’s no way you don’t get free drinks the whole flight

    Worst & Best Airports

Thanks for the laughs! I’ve come to learn that it is less about Spirit Airlines and more about the clientele.

I must admit, I’ve never stepped inside a Waffle House (or a Cracker Barrel)! I think we’re in for a unique experience!

Does the SeaTac Dennys still have a full bar?

Cause I always thought that had the potential to be like the Thunderdome of Waffle Houses if shit ever hit the fan.
