SFO and Sky Harbor are the two airports where they police that well, traffic cops keep it moving.

SeaTac is atrocious. It literally takes an extra 15min to pick someone up at SEA because people sit and wait and clog up traffic at Alaska arrivals…

If the cops were eating clam chowder on break, of which variety would it be?

I just want somewhere within a mile or two of the airport to stop and wait. It's even tough in the residential neighborhoods near LGA and there aren't any near JFK. You're supposed to pay to park in short term lots.

It's not a massive airport like ATL, but it's bigger than most mid-size int'l airports (probably has something to do with Boeing's Dreamliner manufacturing facility attached to it), but it was a really weird feeling just sitting there waiting to get yelled at but never having it happen.
If you need to be yelled my wife can help you out with that.

We're on he way back to SLC. We haven't boarded. My bag is over TN. Apparently they're "expediting" luggage, whatever the fuck that means.

Doha is much better to transit through compared to Dubai. Very chill. Flying in Qatar is also pretty nice. We took the 16hr Doha-Seattle flight once (ouch!)

As CLT is my home airport, it has some redeeming qualities that I like and it's probably good to just connect through, but as a destination or departure city, there have been problems.

1: you will not get your bags for a least 45 minutes. Take a dump, grab a beer or two, then make your way to the claim area. Absolutely no reason to rush. This is true today...

2: good luck getting on a parking shuttle bus. (Granted I think this has improved but)... And this wasn't a singular instance. Wife, 3yo and myself got to CLT after multiple flight delays coming back from a ski trip; 11pm at least . We are parked in the daily deck... Took at least 30 minutes to get a bus...in the meantime the same empty employee bus came by 3 times, as did a number of other busses that picked up no one. Meanwhile 20 plus people waiting for the daily decks bus to stop sat and watched empty bus after empty bus drive by multiple times. That was one instance but certainly not singular as it was bad for a long time. I think it might have improved lately.

I'm in CLT as I type this. I like CLT....when I'm not in a hurry.

As a transit airport it seems like the main drawback is that I always arrive at the very end of one concourse and depart out of the very end of the farthest concourse. 45 minutes is the minimum acceptable connection time and that’s cutting it close.
    Otherwise clean and pleasant enough.

I agree that it's terrible. Whenever I'm waiting at the curb I have to constantly move because someone will pull in and just sit there, so there's no way I can see my ride or them seeing me.

If I have to do pickup I like going to the light rail station, then crossing 99 on the footbridge. There's a pickup lot there for the airport station. Of course that gets hard with old people, too many bags, etc but it's not that far and it saves time when the normal options are backed up.

That's a great idea. I'll have to remember it for next time. The airport expressway tends to be a goat rope in general and is best avoided.

So just walk out to light rail and go down to a parking lot there? I like that walk after a flight and can tell me ride to go there to wait?

Yep, look at the Google street view. There's a bridge that goes over the road by the station and there's a parking lot right there.

Right? How many wings does an airplane (*checks news story*) heading to Tokyo need anyway?!?
