I'm sure I'm not the first to say it, but Heathrow sucks. The walks are miles long. The main seating area is cramped, uncomfortable and loud because for some reason 3/4 of the space is taken up by the duty free. Few places to eat and they all suck. No trouble with passport control this time. (One time the line was huge but they were pulling people with tight connections and sending them to a special line.) Virgin did one cool thing--did our ticket and passport check entering the final waiting area so when it came time to board everyone could zip through.
The security for the Channel ferries is really tight. Check in, then Passport check, then check under the hood and in the trunk. Then another passport check. They were telling people to come 2 hours early although we sailed through, probably because we went to Dunkirk, not Calais.

Not stoked to lose my Sky Club easy access with my Delta Platinum AmEx next year.
Don’t fly enough for anything other than low tier status, have a regular Platinum AmEx which looks like it will still work until 2025 and then likely go away.
I get not allowing anyone on a Basic Economy ticket to purchase a Club pass to help cut crowds, so it looks like comfort+ will be the way forward at a minimum.
Based in ATL obviously Delta is king and I actually like flying them over any other airline not named Emirates so I’m looking to find a card or best path forward to at least keep Club access without having to drop $75k a year on spend requirements. It’s nice to be able to use the lounge with the fam before trips especially when you have to be at the airport so early anymore.
Anyone else looking into this?I still call it The Jake.

Worst & Best Airports
That sounds like every flight I’ve been on for the past “fill in the blank” years.
The latest trend I am seeing is the people who are getting on “late(r)/last”…..searching for overhead baggage space/ slim pickings, so they are taking out/moving people’s bags that had already had them up there when they boarded earlier……
Humans……it’s why any public service job should immediately get double the pay they are getting now.

Good point, and from the last renderings I saw a year or so ago it looks like it would be better than most Sky Lounges with several outdoor areas, more space and a bourbon bar. That said, I haven't heard anything about when it will be open.
I don't see giving up my Delta Platinum AmEx just cause I like racking up Skymiles with everyday purchases but the constant whittling down of benefits is becoming really annoying.I still call it The Jake.

Centurion Lounges are way nicer than Delta lounges. You can get into them with the purple Reserve Skymiles card right now. Not sure if that will change.

Looks like Delta heard the cries from the peanut gallery and will be walking back some of the changes.

He was speaking in front of the hometown audience too. He knew if he didn't walk it back he'd be the one leaving next.
I get that the lounges were a shitshow. I saw it every time I flew: long lines out the doors of each, once inside, especially with the smaller lounges, it looked like adult daycare with messes everywhere, boorish loudmouths getting drunk and scowling status flyers.
But a complete bar on those that spend money to fly your airline to appease only the top tier members was clearly too far. I think you'll see a stratification of services that will let a large amount of Delta AmEx travelers back in, but I think the ban on steerage class flyers in the lounges will stick. Want to be in a lounge, don't buy the budget ticket; that's an easy one to make. Telling people that pay $500+ a year to simply have their Delta card that they've lost all their perks wasn't good PR.I still call it The Jake.

I think we're committed to ditching the skymiles card. Looking at going over to the Amex Platinum and being free agents. We would get centurion lounge access in Denver (plus) which would now be our hub instead of SLC, but most of our flying would now be with United (minus!).
Trying to pencil out the yearly card fee increase to see if it works.

Lounge access isn't top of the list of my concerns over what I 'lost' but it factors in for sure. I've already made Plat status through 2024 (I'm the segment that's the problem they are trying to fix here) but we'll see what happens after that. I'll see what the roll back changes are, but I'll likely be moving my spend off the co-branded Amex. I'm not holding my breath for much of a concession.

Unfortunately our flight schedules out of the BZN mean long layovers at a hub.
I can hang in the general population yard within reason, but wifey is pretty against the idea.

Never used a lounge. I am unwashed masses. I don't drink before or during flights. The idea of a hotel room with a clean place to take a private shit and a shower, maybe a nap is more appealing. I also don't travel often and I go to great lengths to avoid layovers when I do.
My only experience with an upgrade to 1st class was $51 each on the outbound journey to DC on American Airlines out of BTV (operated by one of the regionals). We had rock bottom prices for basic economy seats and with that extra $$ it was still lower than the "normal" price. Not gonna lie, even on one of those little jets, the wider seat was nice. No such luck coming home. This is all a long winded way of saying that I can identify with those who get status to get the upgrades.

We have the platinum and love it. I think the benefits pay for the high fee and with all the traveling I do, the lounge benefits are nice.
