187 billy goat tour does all the things regular BG does just quicker IMO
Sent from my iPhone using TGR ForumsI need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....
Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

I ended up ordering a 186 in expecting I’ll get down to 190-195 lbs from 220 (motivating factor). I don’t think I would need much more than that as I never had issues on the 186 and think a 124 would be an amazing deep day tree ski or Japow ski.
I’m having severe analysis paralysis on my topsheet for my Jeff 108 with the ripper rocker. Really like the first Wren top as well as the bear paw but can’t pull the trigger on one.

I have the 187 BGT. I will go 191 Jeffrey 124 personally, given the mount point. I even had a pair of 186 Jeff 118 tours that I sold because I was sure they'd be too short. I'm honestly also debating going to the 191 BGT because I love the 12/13 191 BG so much ... but we'll see. I don't really have a lot of extra gear monies until my stupid remodel is finished.

182 BG 118 (I think previous gen from current) … what’s the summary on mount point for surfing thick PNW cement? My first set of BGs.
I was pretty happy on the line with Woods 110s at -7.75. I generally like to be at -8, I did not like the OG Woods 108 mount of -6.5.
These BGs are marked at -9 cm.
Boots will be Cochise at 13 degrees or Recons at 14 degrees. I maintain shin pressure while skiing but I am not a race kid / shin to win, often end up in the back seat. My goal is not to be the first one back to the chair, nor to spin off anything, just to pivot through thick dense trees and laugh my little ass off.
Thanks!_______________________________________________

My assym bg on the line. My bg 110 tour the same vintage as your 118 i moved forward 1.2mm. Way better than on the line. They felt like dps wailer clown shoes on the line for me. They went from being feeling like standard too light pingy touring skis that i really had to pay attention inbounds to just jump on them and them and pin it. It was a big relief as i wasnt sure would solve my concerns . Soo glad i did that

Doesnt look like i can edit posts like b4 the server fan shit the bed.
My boot sole length is a 293mm in a fairly upright hpji free 130. Longer bsl's may not work as well with forward mounts idk

I’m also 293mm.
Looks like I may have a hole conflict on the line, if I have to go slightly in one direction, is it back or forwards?_______________________________________________

man - I am super excited to say the least. I have some stock J118s and stock BG108tours en route - both 186s.
I seriously regret selling my pair of 184 BG108tours - the best touring ski I've ever had the pleasure of skiing, so felt like I had to get a pair of the new ones. The 186s might be a bit on the long side for touring, but worth a try. I am sure I can find them a good new home if they do not work out for me. The 181s might've been a better fit for my stature at 175cm / 71kg, but oh well. To be mounted with ATKs.
I am also very, very, very excited to try the J118s b2b with BO118s. To be mounted with Pivots.
I would've loved to order a pair of Ripper J108s and J100s as well for a complete quiver overhaul, but alas - I can't really afford the two pairs that I prioritized getting, so perhaps next summer eh. The current prices are too good to pass on for these two pairs though.

I keep checking your woods ad. I may be in touch in a month or 2 if you still have them

Thanks for the BG feedback y’all. Will be printing Pivot templates and looking at old holes today. I’m pretty pumped on these as they are Wood Eagles; I had some veneer GPOs (Screaming Bear print on ambrosia maple) years ago that I regret selling. I have hopes that these BGs will be more fun in 40+ degree tight trees and high density PNW pow than the heavily cambered Armada Tracer 118s that I have been using on deep days.
Next topic-
Anyone else have a real world comparo on the new WD108 vs previous WD110?
From the descriptions it seems like the new one has better performance in firm snow and low tide (and the WD110 is no slouch there, in fact I find it much improved from the OG108) … I’m wondering if the WD110 has a slightly higher upside in soft and potentially deep conditions._______________________________________________

So I have both sitting in my office.
The rocker is a touch lower and the radius a touch tighter on the new 108 (unmounted). Shovel and tail I believe are the same width as the 110 so I doubt the 110 would have that much more ability in soft conditions. I’m excited to get on them and see the difference. If anyone wants a one mount 110 187 Stars and Stripes I will slide in my DMs!

Thanks!
Shovel and tail should be 1mm wider on the 110 according to the listed numbers, but in real world it may be negligible. On paper it seems like it’s overall going to be more versatile and easier to bring/push the tail around in thick conditions … maybe just giving up a very tiny amount of landing support and float in exchange?
I’m thinking about picking up one more as a backup, so just on the fence about whether the 108 or 110 will be slightly more optimal, and in reality it probably won’t matter._______________________________________________

Right on! I did like the 110 but they came in super light at 2135-2150 in the 187. The 186s I have are about 2250 per which I’m very excited for. Shape wise I don’t think I would be good enough to really spot a difference.
I am very very ripper curious at this point though…
