Today I got out on a set of Wrenegade 114’s that I bought over the summer. Frontside blue groomers on weak legs were not the ideal testing ground but I left more than a little impressed. They were much less work than I had worried they would be. Super stable and but you can still get the tails to break free easily. I am typically on wider setups but these were the best carving skis I’ve been on in some time.
I have demo binders on them for the moment. Played with positioning a bit. Really didn’t like +1 it could be I would need to detune more but the balance of the ski just felt off. -1 was okay. I’m only 165lbs... if I was 200 I might consider it but I needed to really intentionally be driving the tips of the skis to make -1 work. Right on the line felt perfect. They reward you when you get your weight forward, but being more centered also felt fine for some turn shapes.
Fun setup! Excited for more days on real terrain.

I’ve read this several times here and I totally get what your saying and I’m don’t doubt that they are more effective in coastal mank than other skis, but I just don’t get that the shape is less effective in the dryer conditions. I had a pair of 191’s that I skied in CO and I thought they were friekin rad, would (will) bang again.
Fear, Doubt, Disbelief, you have to let it all go. Free your mind!

X2 I also think the BG works just fine and dandy in continental dry powder. It does, like every other ski I've tried with a similar waist width, tend to prefer a minimum speed to get it floating. If you need to float through dry powder on low angle terrain you should buy a wider ski, which is why I also own Protests.

I'm not saying they're bad by any means, no way, they still rock... just that they're a small bit harder to distinguish from other pow shapes in lighter snow.
Their genius appears when the density climbs, when the ski geometry really reveals its advantages.

^^^ I hope so.
I've got a pair headed to CO.

Depending on ski style you should love em. Prior to owning — borrowed a pair from @N1CK and skied them on a day with 10” at The Basin and that sealed it - bought the first pair I found.
Now having moved from CO back to WA 100% agree with aforementioned comment. Hero snow is exactly that... NW Cement shows all the flaws in ski design.

fwiw:
unmounted my C&D's were 2383g (this year's) 10.5 lb per pair.
BG's were 2595g (older, 14/15 maybe)
Get some C&D's!! Lighter than advertised weight of BG in 189. You'll get used to it in no time. Besides, the amount of float you get breaking trail with them offsets any extra weight for an overall easier skinning experience

My 18/19 184 C&D's came in lighter than expected at 2240 grams. I put tectons on them and did quite a bit of touring with them last season, and I never felt they were too much of a hassle and totally worth it (deep days). At least they're quite a bit lighter than my BG's.
I'd love, love, love a lighter RES touring ski though. I'd buy one in an instant.

That's not as bad as I thought, but still a pound and a half heavier than what I'm dragging up the hill right now (182 GPOs - Enduro/Carbon @8.9Lbs.).
If I remember correctly, my 2014 Goats (186) come in at right about 10.5 Lbs.
I suppose I could mount Kreutzspitze GTs (322g/pair) or ATK Haute Routes (BD Helio 200) on 'em! Then they'd only be about 150g heavier than the GPOs with Vipecs.
I wonder if 10 people would make Scott jump, or if knocking a pound off them would involve too much core prototyping to make it worth his while.
If I saw more inbounds huge days, I'd say screw it and mount Shifts or Alpine bindings on them.
It's something to think about.
[edit] Evo shows 'em at 2330g (no weight shown on the ON3P site).
I feel myself weakening.

Sign me up for a BG or C&D tour version to throw my shifts on.
