yeah, wren110pro is going to be a whole lot more ski than QST106s. Wren102s might be the more appropriate comparison. It would not surprise me if Wren102s float nearly as well as QST106s. My woodsman102s float better than a 102 ski ought to.

You sound like you prefer the woodsman for added versatility, which is a good choice. BG110s and other narrower RES shapes are not pure pow specialists though, they thrive in anything soft.

Woodsman 187s are probably going to be the same length or slightly longer than you QSTs - so the comparable size. They should be equally potent, but still have a lot of nimbleness and looseness in soft snow due to their deep rocker lines. I would not size up if you are concerned about / prioritizing skiing in tight trees/spaces, but 191s will have even better float and stability. I've only skied 182 110s, but they are not demanding. If they are any indication then I would not be afraid of sizing up.

Just keep in mind that ON3P's lengths are straight pull, not sole pre-pressed - so they measure in longer than most other skis (at least where the marketing department have not put some random number on a ski for marketing reasons - yes, I am looking at you Völkl and Dynastar (and prob a lot of other brands as well)).

    ON3P SKIS Discussion

Has anyone in here spent enough time on the Wren Pro to give a rec?

Looking for a replacement for my commander 118 and it looks like it hits all the wickets.

It's a bit more plush, less stiff and less precise than the Commander 118, has a good amount of effective edge and skis pretty long for a 186, though the C118 in 188 skis long as well. It's a good ski.

I went on the line/-8 with the Commanders and the line for the Wren 110s which I think is closer to -10 or -11. Feels very traditional and is directional. Neither I would classify as pivoty and both weigh about the same.

It has been discussed before - check through Caphill's posts + one more mag that posted on it too (same spot as the caphill posts).

The 191 caylor still reigns supreme, it’s honestly one of best playful chargers, something about that older on3p construction and shape is super special.

37cm of fresh overnight and all the pow and chop smashing I could want. I haven’t been on the caylor in a long time and I’m super stoked to be back on it. It’s the pow ski the wildcat116 wants to be, it can take a bit more forward stance than the newer Jeffrey models and just mobs. I will give the new 191 jef118 a try next season to be fair, but I’m skeptical.

If anyone has a pair to sell let me know.

Had my Caylor’s out on Sunday, they’re just amazing. We had lots of new snow and they didn’t let me down at all.

I thought about asking a mag to help me with shipping, but wondered if I'd regret the 177. I usually ski low 180 skis, 5'8" 155.

yeah, you should probably be on 182s. I am the same size and would not consider sizing down, unless I wanted something very, very nimble at the cost of stability and float.

ok so...not talking shit here, but am I the only one wondering why Kid-Kapow seems to have become the self-nominated on3p expert, answering all the questions that used to go to iggy/the factory?

    It's all cool...just kinda weird?

I've been quarantined for the past couple years and haven't been paying attention to the market. What happened with the Wrenegades? Why are they in the "reserve" category on the site instead of with the flagship skis?

I bought the '18s, way back in the before times, in a 189/98 and it's the best fucking ski i've ever skied and just wondering what changed.

Tried to search but couldn't find anything and i'm like 77% stupid

yeah, I dunno. Mags asks questions for the collective to reply to. If the idea is to ask Iggy/the factory directly, then why write on here instead of just reaching out directly? Or just write @whoever?

I dunno, I should probably scale down the time I use on this forum. I kinda appreciate people helping each other out, sharing knowledge - so I try to provide insight where I can. If that comes across as stepping on people toes then I'd be more than happy to leave questions for others to answer. Iggy just seem to have had a lot on his plate the last two years.

I alo promised Iggy I'd provide some feedback on my current quiver of ON3P's, so perhaps I should write that out instead - dunno.

Iggy has stated (Blister podcast ++) that there are a lot more skiers who want to get on a tad more modern shapes like the Woodman and that sales of Wrens are really limited as of late. As such, the wrens will most likely move to custom only after the current stock has been sold out.

there I went and did it again

Yeah totally - it's all great, and I'm sure your help doing their customer service is appreciated!

It's just kinda funny for us long-timers, because it used to be company employees answering people's questions (and other people, but the actual employees were pretty on it for a lot of years).

Good for them to have built superfans to the point that they're doing it all on a volunteer basis!

And to be honest, I think Iggy is kinda hesitant to chime in at times. I try to stay nuanced and positive, and while some might think of it as a circle jerk for fanbois, I also think that Iggy is hesitant to be seen to join in. I also think that everybody will be much more interested in his/their take on stuff than mine, so as such - I might actually be doing everybody a disservice in trying to help in my way. Oh well, can't win them all I guess.

Optics woods 102 192s are coming my way for next winter. Excited to have them in the quiver next to my supergoats for low tide days and interesting to see how I get along with them since feedback is scarce

Interesting, gonna have to demo some Woods now to see how they differ. I was thinking of getting the Wrens with a touring core at a smaller length but that was before I realized they switched things up. Back to the drawing board I go.

I am of the opinion the wren tours would probably be a fantastic touring ski and something I have considered ordering myself, before going woodsman. So, if you are super happy with wrens, why change? They are killer skis, just arguably with a smaller target audience than woodmans.

I also think / seem to remember Iggy mentioning that a large driver from the transition to wren going custom only (if that is what happens), is lineup consolidation. ON3P offers so many lengths that stocking them all across mango/jeff/wood/wren/RES makes for a lot of SKUs, so moving some to custom only seemingly makes things a bit easier to organize.

Fair point on the custom wrens, I suppose I was thinking custom skis would be too boujie for me but i've certainly spent more on worse. Some of those custom top sheets are really tickling my fancy too, them flamingos are singing the songs of my people. Don't have a wife that I have to justify another ski purchase too either so I think we might be in the business.

Edit: flowers not flamingos, brain is toasted from work

Do yourself a favor and get a pair of the Wren102ti before they're gone. By far my favorite ski I've ever been on and it's not close.
