Yeah - that is in fact an issue when you have 10 years filled to the brim with killer graphics. I know I would be very hard pressed to decide on which top to go with if a custom pair was planned. I really like your approach of "you want it, we'll build it" over summer (and the rest of the season), with a bit more limited official offering custom wise the rest of the year.

Lookin at that rocker profile I must admit to being somewhat glad that the Fischer Ranger 102frs I looked at last night were indeed sold out. That rocker line just seems like perfection. I guess I should cue some more obsession over the role of Kartels/Jeffreys in my quiver... Especially the 108. Like I haven't thought enough about that already... Dammit.

Also, I do have some sympathy for you Iggy. Here you introduce three major innovations over the last two seasons - reworked C&D, titanal Wrens and a new shape/series in the Woodsman - and we start talking about a wider Woodsman and adding titanal to Woodsmans (my color confusion) before they are even available. You treat us well Iggy, really well - so sorry if we keep providing you reasons to take solace in bottled goods!

Sweet - thanks for the input! Much appreciated.

And btw, I do not intend for this to turn into a "Kid-Kapow comments on everything thread", so sorry if my posting frequency has been a bit high over the last couple of pages.

And sorry Iggy for x-posting images that you posted on NS, but they just look too good not to The on snow presence of these can probably be summed up in one word: SHAZAM!

And could these be one of the soon-to-be-released custom options? Look pretty damned good regardless! (photo: Stone4days over at NS screengrab off Forster Meek's Insta)

again - sorry for stealing your thunder from NS Iggy, but holy crap those look good. I have a feeling that filling up the custom slots over summer won't be much of an issue.

    Textured and color bonanza ftw!]

Man I picked up a pair of those Ranger 102 FR a couple weeks back and fyi that is a stoopid good ski. Crazy fun but locked the f in. But agree, the Woodsman looks killer in every respect. Wanting to go heavier ski / lighter binding for BC this year and think either the 108 or 116 would make a perfect single ski BC setup for Tahoe.

And thanks for re-posting those pics. Hadn’t seen the texture in new top sheets. So sick

It handled transitions from refrozen crap to pockets of fresh snow very well. It also worked fairly well in moguls for how stable it is. If I was forced to have only one ski this would most likely be it.

One negative to the ski, is it may be too damp. It is less lively than either my wren 114 or bodacious.
Is it big boy stiff? Or can my 5'8" 160lb self GS the 184? Does it require speed to turn? Is it a dawg at low speeds, like in flat light? Does it crank medium radius GS arcs while allowing you to drag hip... or is the radius too long and medium radius turns are better surfed?

On paper, it looks like it might be my Hakuba resort non-storm day ski. Concern is the radius is too long if it's too stiff for any medium speeds/turns.

Yeah, I really like their width, stiffness and rocker profile, and I expect they do very, very well on icy groomers. I would def not mind owning a pair, especially for what I nearly got to buy them for They seem like really good skis!

So I'm debating a pair of 2019 181 Kartel 96's and was wondering you guys' opinion on them based on my other 2 skis in my Quiver (sorry if this isn't the right area to do this)...

I've had a pair of Line SFB 105's from 2013 as my one-ski-quiver for 6 years and wanted to branch out, so I recently bought some 116 ON3P Billy Goat's and fucking love them. But now I want a ski for those hard-pack icier days in CO, and was considering the Kartel 96's as something stiffer than my 105 SFBs. So my thinking was the Kartel 96 for hard-pack / icier days (probably 50% would use this ski), Line SFBs for those softer days, and billy goats for powder.

Thoughts? Would waiting for the Woodsman be a better bet, or is that a more directional ski like the Wrenegade?

FYI I'm 5'10" 170lbs, advanced skier, love the bumps and tight trees, and jumping off everything I can find (more natural jumps, not really into park). Not really a big fan of ripping groomers, but with that said I'd still like more stability on groomers than my Line SFBs.

I would likely take the Wrenegade off your list.

For the Woodsman vs Kartel it will likely be a bit of time before we have a full answer but I would say the questions you need to ask are how often you plan on skiing switch (not just landing) and also how centered vs upright you want to ski.

The transition from Billy Goat to Woodsman will likely be an easier back and forth but the Kartel adds something really playful if you just want to mess around on bad snow days.

That's what I want now. Been skiing my 116 BGs every day, and have no complaints but I wonder how well of an everyday ski they'd be if just a little skinnier. Those with a pair of shifts would be what I would like to buy next.

What can I say - my k108s, k116s, C&Ds and w96s all of a sudden have a more uncertain future acoming. Quiver changes might be inbound, again... Yup, I am pretty sure they will. Woodsman96 and 116 here I come. I think. Dammit.

And Iggy - whoever thought up that marketing copy deserves a beer, cause they sure sound bang on for what I want.

Woodsmans look so good. I love how they change the effective edge as you go down from the 116 to the 108. This strategy with Jeffrey/Kartel made me hope they would do the same with the woodman. Makes sense given the purpose of the skis. Anyone have any idea on weight? I am Assuming 187 116 is similar weight to 116 Jeffrey 186?

I need to wrangle up weights - we just have a lot of data spread out over two years of production sheets. But weights are comparable to the Jeffrey. Metal wren has been coming in a bit lighter than stock. Lots of moving parts in here right now, so on my list this week to get that data in. We have just been getting hounded to get skis up - specifically the Woodsman - though. Once I have get everything reconciled I will post them up.
Seriously, this can’t turn into yet another ON3P thread....
