Fondled some of the lineup in a local shop yesterday. Those new 118 BGs are sexy as hell! Wish mine needed replacing!

I’d like to add, “everything” is most definitely NOT a SG. A SG came in 1.5 and 2x flex. Current goat is not anywhere near the flex profile.
That said, I’ve been a fan of the SG tails/rocker profile since the moment I got on it; truth is you actually need to ski them correctly with proper form. But that said they blow the old goats away in EVERY condition.

Yup that’s my take. And like…form is NOT my forte.
So…my 2014 191 are still my favorite goat.
My home mountain has much better tree skiing that it does big open terrain skiing.
I feel like the goat is already enough of a fall line ski. The quick pivot-ability is what has always kept it manageable for me in tree heavy terrain.
I respect the evolution of the design. It doesn’t look like one I need to sample at retail pricing.
I’m most interested in the @cydwhit review of the tour Jeff 118.
SGN urrakkar, bent chetler 120 have been the most fun I’ve had in deep snow the last couple seasons. Yes…more than my cease/desist. Digging jibbier skis lately. Still dig goats and the RES platform. Just different vibes.
Stoked to try the revolt 121 this year.
I think if I didn’t love my deathwish tour, I’d have to have some BG 110 tours - bc terrain is where I think a less jibby platform (for both the up and the down) is better.
So yeah. My random Musing on the offerings this year. Excited for the reviews to start rolling in.wait!!!! waitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwait...Wait!

Sorry for the dumb question, but are the new BG 110s still asymmetrical or can I switch the skis between feet now?

2022 BG110 does not have ASYM. Still has RES.

Does RES prevent you from skiing them on either foot?
Just wondering because I have some 2018 BGs, and they are my favorite skis ever, but if you said that you would give me a million dollars to complain about one thing, that would be it. Mainly because I tend to beat the shit out of them skiing, walking, stomping, on rocks, and if I could switch around what edge is beat on every day, it might make my favorite skis last even longer, which would be cool.

Edited for clarity:
As stated above, BG108 and 110 as well as narrower RES skis have always been symmetrical.
Only 2017 and on C+Ds, and 2018 and on BG116s and their slightly ligther/rounder flexed sibling Steeple116 have been offered with ASYM.
so these BillyGoats / Steeples:
The RES parts have always been symmetrical. The asym part is ahead of the RES portion of the sidecut on the outside edge the aforementioned skis. These models have a dedicated left and right ski. Keep in mind that the RES' taper points start after the contact points, so it doesn't affect how the asyms ski hard snow, only soft snow. The idea is to loose surface area where it improves the skis ability to slarve (outside edge of the inside / upslope ski), and maintain it where you want it for support (inside edge of the outside /downslope ski).
RES vs ASYM taper explained (source):
can asym BG be skied with either foot? Sure, but they will ski differently in soft snow than if skied as intended (more supportive inside edge) vs stronger outside edge - so probably a bit wonky. Every once in a while people post pics on insta and whatnot of them skiing them the wrong way around without the #worstskiever hashtag, so I guess mixing them still will not make you die.
Changing topic.
this post in the Moment thread is amongst the first feedback I've seen on the new WD110 based on actual use. Not exactly a glowing endorsement, but still very interesting. I have yet to try my pair - not enough snow here yet sadly.
SF, have you gotten on your WD102s yet? I am looking forward to get your take on themLast edited by kid-kapow; 12-27-2021 at 01:42 PM.

Didn’t quite catch this earlier, knew the tail, width, lengths and asym changed but didn’t realize the flex and camber profile changed as well. Seems to me like this would be the largest difference also. How are folks with exp on older models liking the camber/flex change? Is it noticeably softer? Edgier?

probably a sizing thing, so thanks for the clarification - 182 vs 184, vs 184 vs 187.
182s handflex noticeably rounder than 184s (mostly in the shovels/ tails - they are pr usual solid underfoot) and have 6mm camber compared to 184's 4mm. So yeah, a whole mm more camber a ski - not a lot.
Though, a stiffer ski (as I imagine most people size up) with more camber would just exagerate the perceived difference in grip/lock in at lower speeds compared to asyms - though I imagine that would make them monster truck variable even harder. ON3P dampness and more camber - oh la la.
