I think there is a pair of 189 custom bg in woodland on the website with a tour layup for regular price right now.

But we're lusting over hopes and dreams here! Maybe it'll never come, but dammit I want to believe.
Adding to this fantasy:
- Upper 20's, low 30's radii.
- Light colored veneers with cool thin line art and hydrophobic coating OR new pillowfight babes
- Notched tails
- Lengths 169/179/189

When the steeple was around it wasn’t a big seller. As Scott has said in the past, if someone wants to organize a group buy type situation like the super goats then things start to become more plausible.

You should feel fortunate. Mine are heavier - now Shifts fo sho. Though I’m not planning to tour on them so I might have myself a desired beast.

Oh right, that makes sense. So about 140 grams from 184 to 189. I have a skin notch in mine, that probably shaves another couple of grams. These things really aren't heavy compared to how big they are.
They're also currently the favourite ski in my quiver. Even better than the BG in the right conditions. I ended up using them much more last season than I thought I would. So much fun.

Most of my touring is done on a Steeple 116, never understood why it wasn't more popular. It's really not all that heavy, especially when paired with decently light bindings, and I think it's shape lets it skin/break trail really well.

They were too heavy to be considered a legitimate touring option.
Steeple 102: 2060g @ 189
Steeple 108: 2100g @ 189
Steeple 112: 2150g @ 189
Steeple 116: 2300g @ 189
Boss man didn't want to compromise the feel, understandably. But those numbers put the touring line on par with main builds from other brands.
Bamboo is heavy, can't get around it.
I toured a lot on heavy layup C&Ds (!) and BGs, plus Steeple 102s... but I'm not going back to something that heavy again, even as a huge fan of the brand who skis them inbounds almost every day.
My main point:
RES kicks ass in natural snow, and folks would probably be open to a change in ski feel if it meant they could have that shape in a lightweight touring ski.
Even amongst the many good options out there now.

A lot of agreement for the touring ski. REs, long radius ,, 2mm camber and steeple rocker profile in a lighter weight. I continue to tour on my 102's because theyre so good everywhere but continue to dream of a lighter weight version. They ski as damp as any alpine ski on the hill with dynafit speed turns on them. They can easily be lighter and still kick ass

Yeah, that's my main point. When I demoed Steeples a few years ago, I thought they were easily as burly as many companies' inbounds rigs.
I'd love to see an ultralight (from ON3P's perspective) Steeple, C&D, etc. - an 1800-1900 gm C&D for example. One can dream ;-)
I'm theorizing (always a dangerous thing), that it's overall mass that matters more than mass / square. inch - that 1800 - 1900 is a good number, whether it be 108 under foot or 124.

I dig my steeples. 116 in a 184 length with shifts. Travel quiver of one. They rule. Sort of wish I had gone 189, but for me at 165#, I can ride either size.
Lighter touring bindings always go on praxis and moment offerings. Even the ON3P tour layup is too damn heavy.
I would pay $1k for an RES tipped ON3P shape coming out of the moment factory with either their standard (aspen/ash) or tour layup (paulonia/ash).
But since that doesn't exist, wildcat/bibby tours/tectons are also pretty awesome and are much faster uphill.
I know we are all masters of splitting hairs in our ski wishes...but I would challenge most of you to get on a newer moment offering. I was blown away at the stability/weight ratio of the Bibby tour. I have somewhat below average skills by TGR standards...so grain of salt... but I can push that ski pretty damn hard.wait!!!! waitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwait...Wait!

Reeeeaaaaaalllly diggin what Norseman is laying down here, I would just like to add that I am super keen on a flat camber and 184ish ON3P length for touring and obviously 11X.

I am tempted as hell by the Moments but they are 1935g @ 190cm... and I think all pawlonia.
I think our skipper has a challenge, beating that. But I bet he could, with use of 3d milled core geometry and carbon. Or some other wizardry. They'd have to be leaner fo sho, esp in the shape/width of powski we seem to be coalescing upon.Last edited by Norseman; 11-15-2019 at 10:14 PM.

Id be ok with a 179 @ 1935. 8.5lbs for a pair is still a good savings. 2000 for that matter. Still want to feel that dampness. Baby steps after that
