I still want Billygoats in a 189 or 191, stiff layup.

Hey,
Anyone got a straight pull measurement for a 184 Billy Goat? My ideal ski length is about 187 so could realistically go either 184 or 189. Also, anyone got a rocker shot?
Cheers

Nice, cheers. If I pull the trigger I'll go shorter I think. A true 189 is pretty big.

I'm short, but stocky. Probably 5'9" and 180 nekkid. Favorite pow skis are 190lotus 120 (187 straight pull) and current everyday ski is 186 supernatural 108 which is about 184cm straight pull.
Could go both ways really. Looking for a ski thats a versitile pow ski, more versitile than the 120's. Have some hoji 187 and love how they turn quick in the trees but are still stable in the alpine and ski whistler mank well, but can't get on with the centred mount point. I basically want to replace the hoji with something with the attributes of that ski that I like, without the forward mount.

^^After reading that, my concern would be that you'd find the BG too similar to the 190 L120. But I haven't skied the newer iterations of the BG, so I can't speak to its improved versatility.

Hoping some folks can chime in regarding Wren 108 sizing 184 vs 189. I'm 6 ft 185 lbs. Raced in college, know how to drive the tips. Normally on the 190 Bibbys and 186 Belafontes, love the way they ski and their stability through chop/crud. Basically looking for something more on the daily driver part of the spectrum than the Bibbys, and something with more tip rocker than Belfontes that can be more soft snow specific. Seems like the Wren 108s are a great fit, however blister weighed the 184s at 2125 grams which I'm worried will be a bit too light and might not handle chop/crud as well for my build. Based on that and the feedback that these arent a super demanding ski, it seems like a logical decision to size up to 189s. Thoughts?

That's good news, I loved my 120's and have never found something I clicked with since. Always wished they had a bit tighter radius so they are more versitile on the hard stuff. A bit of tail rocker would be nice too.
Hopefully the BG is a bit of a blend between the 120's stability and the hoji quickness. That would be amazing!

I skied half a day on the 190 Bibby, and it skis very short, IME. If you sometimes wished it was longer, go 189. If you never want more tip/ski, go 184. If you like the progressive mount of the Bibby and just want something like a narrower Bibby, the 186 Kartel 108 might be right up your alley, and splits the difference in length a bit.

The 189 wren 108 may be lighter but it skis like a nimble heavyweight, especially in junky snow. I demoed them for one day and immediately put an order in to replace my worn out 192 Cochise. They are almost exactly the same dimensions, including length. At your size you could probably get away with the 184, but if you're worried about stability in crud, go 189.

Also sounds like the Wren tail rocker and profile allow the tails to release easily, which makes me believe they would ski a tad shorter than comparable lengths.

Yeah, at your size I personally think the 189 is a no-brainer, but I also think the 190 Bibby skis pretty short. FWIW, the tail on the Kartel is pretty solid. It's similar to a narrower (but better) Bibby Pro. The 186 Kartel feels similar in length to the 190 Bibby (and I would guess they measure within a cm of each other).
Have you wished the Bibby was longer? Have you ever felt like it was too long?Last edited by auvgeek; 08-29-2017 at 09:17 AM.

X2, the 190 L120 and 184 BG have similar stability IME. The BG is more playful and pivots easier, and definitely skis better on hard snow. I think the BG likes a touch more upright stance than the L120. Both great skis and if you liked the L120 I think you'll like the BG a lot. The 189 BG feels like a longer ski than the 190 L120.
I would agree that the Kartel kinda skis like a narrow Bibby. The Wren 108 is definitely more of a Belafonte replacement. I would say if you thought the 187 Bela was the right size, the 184 Wren will be the right size. A 192 Bela fan would want a 189 Wren.
I own the older version of the Bela (before the fucked up camber) and would say the Wren 108 offers similar stability, is a bit more damp, a bit easier to pivot the tail, but lacks a bit of power/rebound in the tail (due to the rocker).

I agree it skis pretty short, but I found the 190 Bibby needed more input than the 191 Billy Goats. I just find the BG so easy to ski, without the traditional sidecut up front.
Both sizes would work for Rob Stokes, depends on the terrain/mountain you ski at.
I cant wait to get on my goats this year(2017 189 regular, 2014 191 tours), after regrettably selling my 2015 191s. It's like all new twists to my favorite flavor of ice cream.
