Always found this song particularly profound

"I don't believe in forced entry. No,
    I don't believe in rape.
but every time she passes by,
    wild thoughts escape.

I don't believe in death row, skid row or the gangs.
I don't believe in the Uzi, it just went off in my hands

I don't believe in Success, excess is to give.
    I don't believe in riches,
but you should see where I live"

    And +1 for LS

"He spent a lifetime playing the black man's blues.
and on the day he lost his life, well that's all he had to lose. "
    "Can't you see..."

Allison Moorers song about her Dad killing her mother and committing suicide counts. But can’t find a free version.

    In keeping with the season:

"Can you free yourself enough to be able to experience the reality of life as it goes on before you and with you and as you go on as part of it or not? Because if you can't, you stand on square one until you die."

You might have picked Runaway Horse, although apparently it's not about a cowgirl and a horse but a metaphor for Buddhism. Leonard Cohen song, after all.
And BTW, Wildfire is too corny to be beautifully sad IMO. Thoughts?

I'm sure I posted this before but to me it's worth repeated. The longing and heartache he conveys is amazing. Gets me every time.

“I was there when they crucified my lord,
I held the scabbard when the soldier drew his sword.
I threw the dice when they pierced his side,
But I’ve seen love conquer the great divide. “

My wife once drove from PDX to SEA on a business trip with a guy who had just the day before found his gay lover in bed with another man. All he wanted to do the entire trip was play Eva Cassidy and cry.

If we are doing “Over The Rainbow” we have to include Bruddah Iz version

Like Eva Cassidy he died young. Would have been 61 on Wednesday
