Is 70 mph or Faster Possible on Sun Cupped Snow ?

I just threw down $700 on a set of 193 Enforcers and bindings combined after a ski shop told me that the Enforcers would be much more stable and more suitable for skiing on sun cupped snow, especially since there is more edge contact with the snow due to a tapered tail rocker and a narrower waist for initiating turns and edge contact. I felt so stable with the Helldorados, although I felt that when having to make a quick turn at speed, I tended to skid a lot more due to the wider base and less edge contact. Does anyone have any idea which ski would be better for these kinds of snow conditions? Or any ski for that matter? Especially if the conditions are icy like they often are earlier in the morning. How would using my 218 cm downhill race skis work? These are the conditions I am referring to. I am wondering if either of my skis could handle these conditions at 70 mph if not faster?

I figure the video shows some descent size sun cupped snow.

dropping $700 on skis and spartan races and complaining about having no money? Get a pair of equally long, equally manly skis from your local gearswap for $200, use the extra cash for some proper summer race course time.

post videos of your 70mph beaters.

You can rest assured, you will be seeing a video of me trying this year. I have my motives which will also be explained in the videos I post. But it's gonna happen!

I love them powder days, but I really dig them days when I've had a fast day of skiing on those sun cups!

^^^ This …… although at high enough speed, 2 inches can feel like 10 inches.

I suggest additional weight - something in the .44 caliber range (doubles as wolf protection). Oh, and what's in your emergency surgical kit?

I skied some pretty large suncups at Alpine Meadows one Memorial Day--not as big as the ones in my first post but a lot bigger than the ones in the OP video. I would have to say it was the most miserable ski conditions I have ever skied.

Suncups of course are how the resort stores the moguls at the end of the season to keep them from melting, although usually it doesn't work.

Enforcers= soft and too much sidecut.

Not on suncups but I did this on a firm, kinda bumpy greybird day in the upper cirque at snowbird. On 1994 atomic powder plus that I rockered myself. Stiff, lots of metal and a 40 meter radius. That's what you want.

Goddamnit the photo uploader really sucks balls these days.

Absolutely. But I'm surprised that someone who owns 218 DH boards would even think to ask.

So maybe this was a dumb question to ask. As many say with cycling racing and a bicycle's performance capability, it's not the bike it's the rider. I'm sure its the same thing with skis to a certain extent. Having difficulty with social cues, social interactions, and now not knowing how to ask good questions on a forum can be added to my list of difficulties living life as a high functioning autistic.
