RIP - Mirra
I was never much of a bmx guy but Dave always struck me as a genuine kinda guy.

RIP Dave. I have a feeling this is a case of CTE. Dave certainly had
his fair share of concussions. Really sad for his wife and kids. Sucks

Local authorities are still investigating the incident and noted an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound was the preliminary cause of death
Very sad. Rip.No matter where you go, there you are. - BB

Almost sounds fishy. But if true, more proof mental illness is an ILLNESS, not a choice.

Very sad, and almost certainly CTE (aside from his bike work, he'd been into boxing, and I seem to recall that he got hit by a car and head-injured in his teen years). RIP.

Always stoked to watch him tear up the X-Games as a teenager.
Can't imagine the reality for wife and kids. Scary.

So sad. Dave Mirra was one of my idols growing up. I had posters, the video games, and all his parts from Haro. My brothers and I would watch him in the X Games then try to tear it up on our bikes in our yard on sketchy built jumps. Compared to a lot of other riders, Dave always seemed genuine and kept his image clean...I feel like he could connect with both young kids and adults. Too bad to hear this news. RIP Mirra

I wonder about the CTE connection as well, but it's all just conjecture at this point. RIP Dave, and vibes to the family.

Those who wondered about CTE... you were correct.

Agreed. It's becoming increasingly clear that we've drastically underestimated the seriousness of concussions. I played four years of football in HS, thankfully with no concussions but uncountable sub-concussive impacts, and I've had probably half a dozen legit concussions from skiing crashes and other accidents. I can't help but wonder how it may be affecting me now and how it may affect my future.
