You're just gonna throw that out there and not even take a shot at figuring out wtf happened because it confirms your negative fatalistic view of the world. Got it.

Was on the far south side of the storm. Got into maggie valley NC thurs PM 35 degree rain, no issues. woke up to 8-10" in the valley, chained up all four tires on the 2wd suburban, never felt the tires slip once, several 15-20% grades. Skied fri-sat at cataloochee, some legit pow turns (VERY rare here). The valley was shut down friday, one gas station/store was it.

Supposed to be close to 60 by the start of the week, this snow will be a distant memory before long.

Funny you bring that up i remember riding the lift at Tline last year with some patrolllers peppering me with questions about cataloochee ("Cat") as then they were hearing rumors cat was buying Tline then.

As best I know, group "Phoenix Ski Corp" Bought the assets of cat excluding the land in the very late 80s and have slowly worked majic. They've built up easily the best snowmaking system in north America, and will open early nov to late march. Very well run, but maybe not to your and my preference (tons of church buses and skier traffic). GM is Chris Bates and he just walks on the water. Constant improvements.

They just have pretty shitty terrain or they'd own beech/sugar.

I hear rumors every year that Tline is on the verge of shutting down, which would suck.

That's because it's been on the verge of shutting down every year. Yes, it would suck.

Interdasting, my info sez this guy is an arms dealer so he got tons of cash. Currently there is a ginormous house being built up on the mtn. His dealio was he loaned Tline the cash to start up this year as no one would loan them any. If they default he gets majority control.

We all have our fingers crossed this is the nail in the coffin for the idiots that have been running the place(into the ground).

BTW I had to shovel my roof today as I am getting water stains on my ceiling.

    FAK!

WINTER STORM WARNING FOR THE SOUTHEAST!

    https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/12/weath...end/index.html

Having lived through Snowpocalypse 2013 in ATL in grand fashion (I can't find that thread cause search function), I'm excited to load up the bar cart for this weekend. I'd try and get up to Boone or Cataloochie if I didn't know we'd be certainly stuck there for a couple days no matter what the weather does so I'll have to settle for keeping the boy and dogs entertained using conventional methods like sledding down the biggest ice-covered street in the neighborhood.

The snow two weeks ago was pretty wet, taking out a bunch of limbs and our power for threeish days. As a result my wife is now in full prepper mode. I’m just enjoying watching her scramble. We have plenty of food, gas for the generator, wood for the fire, and it’s going to be 10 degrees colder. The only thing on my mind is whether or not Wintergreen is going to open the Highlands lift, cause I’m not gonna bother if not. Also hoping we can build another luge of death, which we haven’t been able to do since the storm that started this thread.

She might pull a little to the left at first, but it wont matter because eventually the kid will be pulling the dogs in the sled

Why haven't they named this thing yet?

Did naming winter storms stop being a thing?

Looks like a pow day in the Upstates come Sunday.
