    Tuckerman Ravine 1/17/16

First hand account of the slide at Tux a couple days ago. Written by an AIARE instructor who was running a class at the time.

Slide took out five people from two independent parties, none fully buried, none wearing beacons.

So one of the guys who was swept in the slide, who wasn't wearing a beacon, was a SAR member? That's... interesting.

Prefacing this with the major caveat that I've been there but that looks like a hell of a place to take a 7 person avalanche class.

    Nice 1 year thread bump.

good reminder to stay safe out there, esp with all the snow and upcoming rain in the NE.

Definitely part of the 4 man climbing squad. The climbers on MTW almost never wear beacons.

There was a slide the other day at smugglers notch that could have easily killed someone too.
