513 miles, Jersey Turnpike, George Washington Bridge, Cross-Bronx and fucking Connecticut later, all is well.

    Man I hate Connecticut.

Did you know that Connecticut is called ďThe Nutmeg StateĒ because back in Colonial days nutmegs were expensive and some enterprising Connecticut-ers figured out how to scam people by making fake nutmegs out of wood? True story. And apparently theyíre still proud of it 250 years later. Figures. Fuck that place.

    But I digress.

Man all I really wanted was for someone to say "nice truck!" or "good luck on your trip!" or some shit.

I’m glad the brakes held up for you. Wasn’t that the truck whose lines gave out on you? Looks in good shape for a northern truck of that vintage. When I go to MN for work, most that vintage have rotted out from road salt.

Yeah same truck NC. My wife hates it. Understandable since she almost died driving it. She won't drive it.

This is like the best thing ever.

Truck has no body rust but it's lived in Maryland, pretty minimal salt plus it rains so it gets washed away.

The Merritt Parkway always managed to make the drive to NE tolerable.

Must have been something up on the Merritt yesterday, Waze sent me up 95 this time instead. Yeah bmills that surround thing is still intact. It's kind of a bitch to get the tailgate open for some reason but it still looks fine.

So wifey and I are looking at getting a used pickup. I have a truck to use for work so this will be for weekend use(skiing/fishing/towing an RV). Iíve driven almost every full-size on the market in the last 15 years, but most of my time has been spent in a F150.
Since Iím thinking about used, Iím thinking about a Tundra. Other than kinda crummy fuel economy, is there anything else I should look out for?

    Dude that's pretty sweet.

Iceman, CT traffic absolutely sux anymore. Sometimes it can take an hour to get from I684, through Danbury and out past Newtown on 84. Thankfully the 10 years of construction through Waterbury is finally finished. Yeah the Merrit can totally suck, the smallest thing can back traffic up for 30 miles or more. The only time to get through the state is between 10pm and 6am unless you know the back roads, then it's actually fun but probably not in a pickup.

Get another F150. Simple. That's what they are made for and you wont pay a premium for what?

This shows the size of the truck better. Optional cook station that stows in the truck.

Totally fake truck that doesn't exist.

Iíve thought about it. I really have. But in my time spent behind the wheel, i canít find a reason to. The driving experience is boring, the interiors are cheap, and the drive trains are just alright. The only thing I like about the F150s is the size of the gas tank and the fuel economy.

Tundras are really expensive. You pay a premium for the Toyota badge. I like them though and plan to buy one in the next few years.

If MPG and towing are considerations for you, I don't know why you'd end up with a Tundra these days.
