I know but maybe it could be better? What are those getting? Mid 20s? Seems like if they can build a half ton that will 0-60 in 3.7 sec with 702 HP, they could regularly crest 30 mpg. Maybe not. Maybe science. I don't know. But a 1/2 ton that could do 30+ mpg unloaded would be more boner inducing to me than the current crop of whatever the Raptors and TRXs are. Don't get me wrong, those are cool too.
I'm just curious why there can't be a switch like on the diesel tuners that let's you enjoy some efficiency when you want and then hit the haul ass button and do that too.

Ferd's eco-boost 2.x is very economical, for pick ups, based on a couple 5hr round trips towing a 16' tin boat w motor vs my Tundra 5.7.

I would be more concerned with the eco boost self grenading, I think the 3.5 eco boost was bad enough but the 2.4 is just asking too much from too little displacement
on the small truck diesel how does the cost per mile RUG vs Diesel compute, ya you got better milage but if the fuel costs more did you really save money ?Last edited by XXX-er; 10-31-2022 at 02:48 PM.

Yeah, but then I'd have to drive a Dodge. Sorry...that was low.
Tried the Eco and the turbo grenaded.
As a Toyota loyalist, I'm really just mad at them that they finally made a hybrid but they built it to keep up with the small wiener horse power club. I'll practice patience.

4th Gen Cummins in a 3500 is averaging 23.4 MPG by the computer. Probably a bit less than that if hand calculated. I’ll take it.

Got the 2022 Silverado 1500 diesel. Get around 24-26 mpg in town. Easy 30 on highway. Got 34.5 mpg over a 50 mile stretch in west part of virginia on I-81 going 80 mph with rack bars in bed.

I think they are putting same engine in 2023 Colorado. I think the z71 looks pretty sweet. Thoughts on the 23 Colorado?

Sounds like the new ZR2 will be an off-road beast. Comes stock with 33" mud terrains, front and rear locker, winch capable front bumper, 400 lb-ft torque and 11" ground clearance. Should make for some mighty fine mall cruising. $55k msrp?

It's so weird to read stuff like that. I mean, our butts haven't changed in quite some time, and they've been making cars forever, you would think that while technology might make aspects of how the car runs go wonky, that they would have the construction of comfy seats pretty dialed.

Saw a belch of white smoke from the truck when starting up yesterday. Quick Google search came up with that the valve cover gets clogged and oil gets pushed into the PCV. Lots of videos on YouTube how folks drill holes to get it working better. Other option is replacement valve cover. I'll try the drill version first. New valve cover gaskets will clean up the dirty engine bay anyway.

My Silverado w/5.3 took three oil pump replacements and a couple of other things to remedy reoccurring low oil pressure. Traded it in after "fix" number three.

My 5.0l F150 is going into the "specialist" tomorrow to figure out why cylinder #4 is showing low compression (90psi cold/120psi shortly after start).
Anybody ever heard/had such an issue? I'm eagerly anticipating bad news...

Where my Tundra people at? Trying to figure out the easiest way to run a cable from an external antenna into my truck cab. Ideally one that doesn't involve removing the floor and/or rear seats.
https://www.tundras.com/threads/wire...-of-cab.76910/
This would be idea but don't think I can access these grommets without pulling all the flooring up.

I know it's not as direct but there's generally some better options in the hood compartment to run wires into the cab.
