The highway of tears is not technical. For that you would look at latitude.

Anyway this isn’t the southern BC isn’t north thread. Back to the trucks.

    They do. That’s my point.

It was posted in the RV thread. Neat concept, but why not use a Tundra?

Just wait till they get the ARB winch mount bumper with bull bar and 20” led light strip. That’ll spruce it right up.

We've recently got a six-pac slide in camper, and have it on 2017 taco with air bags. It's not ideal but it works ok.

It's got us thinking about a new to us truck. Our current vehicle lineup is...

'08 Element - my commuter and our weekend camping setup
'17 Tacoma - her commuter and camper hauler
    '84 f150 flatbed - property rig
'90 4runner TDI - project rig, need to sell

    Trying to turn in to...

    His commuter
    Her commuter
    Big truck
    Property shitbox/or just a big truck^^

We're thinking about getting a dedicated big truck and smaller commuter for her. I don't know where to start on big trucks. My plan would be sell the taco, buy mid-late 00's outback, and put 3 to 5k into the f150 to make it more long haul worthy and come out ahead. She doesn't trust it, but might be able to convince her. Our neighbors have dodge/Chevy 3/4ton 4x4 in the 10 to 20 yr old range and seem to like them, other than the dodge transmission issues. Any advice for 3/4 to 1 ton trucks in that age range? Makes/models/motors to avoid? I know everybodies got their big dick truck strokin/cummin whatever jokes, but we'd rather get a gas guzzling pig that won't break than a sick truck that's gonna shit the bed 2k miles from home.

To beardeclam, can’t go wrong with a Chevy/gmc, there is a reason everyone is doing LS swaps, motors are cheap, reliable, parts are easy to come by and they last. I found a 2004 5.3 in a junkyard for $850 with 100k on it, 5 years later still going no issues.

Apparently a 2022 Tundra SR5 with TRD off road package is going to be $50,000-$53,000. Limited around $60,000. Neither with hybrid. Jesus fuck Toyota.

You need to Man Up. Try a RAV4, it's your style and budget.

When I was pickup shopping, a Limited TRD '19 was just shy of $50k. Not sure you've been following the used pickup market but I can sell my pickup with 30k miles on the clock for more than I bought it for. I think half tons are crazy expensive but I'm not sure I'd blame Toyota or any other manufacturer right now. They are selling pickups for what people will buy them for and maybe even a little less judging by the shortage. Rav4s are not bad. My mom drives one.

Mrs C's RAV4 hybrid is really nice. AWD, nearly 40 MPG, holds most anything / goes most anywhere you realistically need.

Another vote for Chebrolets from the early/mid naughts, specifically the pre-AFM trucks. Ford V10s are reliable; U-Haul used/uses them.

Any word on the hybrid TRD Pro? I can't find anything price-wise. Guessing $70k range.
