US ladies in spandex topping podiums

If you haven't been paying attention, the US Women's nordic team is crushing the world cup scene this year. This week alone, Sophie Caldwell took a gold in the classic sprint on the Tour de Ski and Jessie won the 5k freestyle race today.

These women have been working very hard over the past several years. A huge reason they are doing so well was the formation of the Stratton Mountain School T2 team which provides them with some of the resources they need to be full time athletes.

These are not fluke wins. They've earned every bit of them. Feel free to drop a donation to the T2 team, if you are so inclined.

    Thanks for the update.

Freakin nordic racing. You'd be hard pressed to find a more demanding sport out there. That first link looked like 3 minutes of absolute hell.

A Caldwell kid winning a nordic race is awesome!!! Guessing there's some bloodline back to John, author of one of the earliest and best books on nordic racing ever [article on him here]. His idea of high-tech cross training was after you got done running up that mountain out the back door, grab the axe and split and stack a cord of wood.

and I never had a shortage of people tryin' to warn me about the dangers I pose to myself.

I hate to be that guy, but in nordic racing if you aint doping you aint trying. Hard for me to watch with naive eyes. It's just that hard of a sport.

Awesome sauce......stoked to see us xc kick some ass after years at the back of the pack

Kinda sorta related story.......so I meet some friends for a ski tour couple weeks back and one buddy brings another friend. Soooo.....we are shooting the shit on the skinner and I ask the dude what he does for fun and he said he likes to xc ski. I ask if he means skate skiing and he says oh yeah! So I tell him about an article I read about how Olympic level skate skiers are the fittest folks on the planet and have higher vo max then Tour de France riders and he’s like “ oh yeah for sure”. So we ski the first pitch and while we are waiting for everyone my friend drops the knowledge that his buddy was a Tour de France rider and was at the top of the game bitd . Turns out it was Levi leipheimer and we all laughed about my “yeah no shit” moment.
    Yah sweet blahg bro.......fkna USA!!!!!!

JHC. Check out what Jessie does on the last hill, starting at about :50 and then on to about 1:27 she just crushes them on the hill, pulling away. Plus w/o crowds it’s so cool to listen to her breathe.

That was awesome. And the difference between Diggins and the chasers right near the end was impressive. Full boil.

Seems like a good place to leave this:

A woman came up to me and said "I'd like to poison your mind
with wrong ideas that appeal to you, though I am not unkind."

    Right?
But of course there was nobody else on the course, so it was easy.

This woman came up racing at the Weston ski track in MA. From an urban golf course to the world cup. Not too shabby.
