Matt Kane's in DC used to be cool. Old Irish place that lasted about 50 years past the time it was in the right neighborhood. The hood turned to ghetto, then came back as offices. They had these giant banquet rooms out back that hadn't been used in decades, tables still with glasses and plates on them, like it was set up for the 1941 FOP ball and it got canceled because of Pearl Harbor or something. Very creepy and weird. But the bar was good.

Here's an old pic I found online - brick fllors, cool old bar:

It closed in the '80's, not sure what that guy at the bar is looking at but it can't be a smartphone as it appears to be.

The old Bar of America...Truckee. Yeah, I know its still there. I'm talking about the bar as it was before it was sold and turned into a restaurant. Now it's owned by GarWoods.

Wonder how long The Tourist Club and Pastime will hang on.

    The Generic Bar - Syracuse
    The valley club - Rutland
    The last chance - Burlington

All great in the late 80's/early 90's and all gone today. Still feels weird to go downstairs at the Flynn and remember the chance.

The original Balboa Yacht Club Panama City, Panama. They brought in hookers by busload and mystery meat on a stick grilling in the parking lot. Good times.

X2 on the Cabin. It was a fun place, I like many others crashed once so hard riding my bicycle home from there after closing time. OTB face to the sidewalk!

The VC. That's a real bummer for the apres scene at the Village imo. The whole base area feels like Aspen now. I guess it's nice for the rich people but I'm a lot more comfortable in a more gritty scene.

    Murphy's in Steamboat.

Honorable mention for the Red Shed, also in Shetown WV.

As a underage lad, 11 or so, I would peruse the parking lot on a Sunday morning finding all kinds of goodies. Cash money, beers, booze, drugs, paraphernalia, soiled panties and so forth.

    Long lost bars thread

Scotty B, if you're ever in the neighborhood of Tucson definitely look up the Meet Rack. It's one of those that will be on here someday. Worth going to before it's too late. The owner, God, drives a pink and yellow metro, and cuts off panties and bras to hang on the wall. It has a well used and super adventurous sex room, and there's a condom dispenser in the ladies room. If a girl buys one a siren goes off as she walks out greeted to large applause. Also, if you get God tattooed on you your first beer is free for life.

Don't ask for the latest Stone dry hopped ipa either. I think they have either Heineken or Budweiser and that's it, aside from bottom shelf liquor of course. If you want a headache, this is the place.

Remember the biker d00d that used to blow up dynamite in the street just before closing. The guy was a coke dealer and fucking crazy. Anytime he set down his leathers, there was a big klunk
    . No wonder why there.

Also, the Vuarnet in JH back before that fucking Sublette quad.

I don't remember that, but I don't think I was ever there at closing. Had 2 or 3 friends that tended bar at the Red Door down the street, and if I was drinking at closing time, I wanted to be drinking after closing time, so I would be at their establishment well before last call.

The Red Door used to be the Fremont Tav before they moved it. Now that was a dive.

La Boheme on Phinney Ridge was another favorite watering hole.

Oasis in Boulder. It's been closed for 10 years and I still probably drank more there than I've drank everywhere else in Boulder combined. Decent beer, not-quite-decent food, but always a good time. Played a lot of gigs up on the second floor next to the dartboards.

I still regret that, in 15 years of driving past Kermit's to go to the mountains, I never once stopped there. I'm sure it wasn't anything great, but I'd like to know what I missed.

Van Morrison's not walking through the door any time soon but the Plough is still going strong.

The Littlest Bar, on the other hand, RIP.
