Buried a couple of friends who couldn't. That really sucked. I imagine for both of us but due to the unknowable nature of dying I can't be sure. I would fucking love to go someplace where I would never have to listen to Trump again. But I digress.

My wife is of the long time sober variety, but I don't seem to be afflicted. Through her I know many who are and it is a fucking struggle for some, for others not. I can drink every day on the river sometimes to excess and get off the trip and I don't really think about it for a month or two.

Actually felt my skiing competence was better sober?
Used to think the opposite to where I needed a buzz to loosen up.
That surprised me the most.
Feeling better but now notice I have little patience for people's drama and bullshit.
Self medication definitely helps dealing with that crap.

For me when I had a few beers my skiing improved a lot. A few more and it quickly became dangerous.

Now my skiing is just better.

Tolerance for others is an issue early on.

yeah, i never understood the fascination for drinking and skiing
i see it at Killington, big time. Bars all over the hill now, ski in ski out and get on the gondola on the weekend and people are pounding beers at 8:00 in the morning
i learned in college at Plymouth State, that drinking and skiing sucks.
drank four beers at Camp 3, Loon Mt, and we decided to go back up.
it took me over an hour to get down, i'll never forget how freaked out it made me, like i forgot how to ski and whatnot
weed and skiing on the other hand, i can not ski without it!
