Climbing Wall for the Kids
My wife and I are thinking of building a climbing wall in our house for the kiddos, ages 5, 3 & 1. I know nothing about climbing but we've taken them to an indoor gym a few times and they love it.
Thinking something permanent in our rec room, ceilings are vaulted to 12' so have some room but also open to ideas on an outdoor one that can be collapsed and stored in the garage.
So my question, any good websites, pics or suggestions for this type of thing. Reco's for holds, anything "must have" pieces to get it done? The Google machine basically turns up Pintrest.
Want to try and make it as cool and unique as possible but keep the spend reasonable. Search function turned up nothing...thanks in advance.

Metolius has a really good guide they used to (probly still do) send out with any purchase of they're hand holds, and probly other gear as well, so I'd check their website, and maybe give em a ring, I'm sure it'd be really easy to make sure they throw one in with some holds... also super easy to make holds if you have time, and ask your local climbing gym for their throw aways because they throw away any holds with any faults at all no matter how insignificant and they are quite expensive
Fear, Doubt, Disbelief, you have to let it all go. Free your mind!

There's a long thread on homemade walls at mountainproject.com, the first one on the linked page is being built for kids but if you look at all 28 pages I'm sure you can get lots of ideas.

Climbing Wall for the Kids
Thanks all, definitely considering as a Christmas present this year to the kids. My only concern as of now is resale of the house but I guess I can just figure that out when the time comes.
Thinking a vertical wall w/ plywood and 2x4's...pretty straight forward for now and hoping to have something for the kids by the time Santa comesLast edited by dtown; 11-29-2015 at 09:58 AM.

Just patch and paint before you resale. Nobody needs to know.
Yeah, cheaper then a TV and much better for your kids.
I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...iscariot

Climbing wall for kids
Might be worth a try to go to the gym and ask if you could grab some of their old holds. Gyms often have super old holds they never put up that would be great for kids
