This is a pretty impressive storm, it's been raining in Wenatchee since 7 pm yesterday. That's really unusual. Reminds of the big November storm 7 or 8(maybe it was more?) years ago.

Comparatively light when looking at the Mission Ridge telem, gusts to 137mph yesterday afternoon.
Move upside and let the man go through...

The wind is the only reason you can even ski at Mission, if the wind didn't fill in certain areas the rocks would never be covered.

Seemed like I lived that all last year, most days I've ever had at Mission.

Ha ha. True. And sometimes it's calm and clear, e.g., riding the lift to the Hogloppet start a few years ago in XC tights at -10F.

Cool little area and free RV parking too.

Any idea re starting date for WROD skiing?

Holy hell, that's serious wind! How often is that windspeed seen up there?

Yeah, April was the best month.

Norse- it blows pretty hard on the reg at Mission and the quad closes down frequently, but I got to think 135+ doesn't happen all that often.

Friday after Thanksgiving. I would bet there will be more terrain than the wrod open above Midway though.

There are usually 4-5 storms a year with gusts that high. The anemometer recorded gusts over 150 a few years ago before the tower holding it was toppled.

I fully intend to ski Mission on the Friday opener. I took the plunge and got a season pass at both the hwy 2 resort and the windy hill, so hoping to ski weekends at the wind farm and night ski/big midweek pow days at 2. But if the windy hill gets a dump I'll probably choose it over 2. Stevens kills me with how busy and skied out it gets.

I'll take 6-8" of new at Mission over a foot of new a Steven's every time. Once you get to know the place you'll realize how big it is and how nice some of the terrain is. Often untracked snow a week after a storm.

Speaking of lift-served, I got the all-clear from mgmt to dip out tomorrow and play at the northern resort.

Looking forward to hot laps, cold Pabsts and high-fiving good times. Leaving town before sunrise and returning long after dusk. Dust on crust be damned...

Everyone and their brother will be up there this weekend. Wish I could join the kook train and get up there, but I think it will just be crust no dust.
