15/16 Alaska Alexander Archipelago Observations
Hopefully Super El Nino won't squash the delicate balance of our coastal snow pack.
November 11, dropping temps to below freezing at sea level and plenty of moisture with it. We'll see if it materializes, but could be skiing next week in Ketchikan.

Great thread! Picked up a couple inches at Eaglecrest over the past two days. Currently snaining at the base. Would love to see the temps drop a couple degrees.

Looks like the travel gig has has found you in the snow once again. How do they treat RNs up that way?

Coverage begins around 1200'. According to the ski area's calculations, about 9" have accumulated at that elevation. In the trees, we couldn't put our skins on until about 1800'. Forecast is great for the next week.

Storm wrapped up with about 4-7 feet of snow above 2,000ft. Put skis on at around 1600ft today. Not Wasatch blower that I'm used to, but a bomber base to get things going.

Another 6-8" of fluff on top of 5-7ft base in the alpine. The new snow allowed skiing down in the trees to 1600ft. Far more snow out in the treeless alpine.

No new snow for the past several days. More in the forecast later this week. High and dry for now, which is good for trips up adjacent inlets.
Carroll Inlet, lots of 4,000ft peaks with 2500-3000ft descents. You can camp on several different docks up here to access the skiing.

Essentially have corn skiing now with cold temps and a bomber, completely locked up snowpack.
