2015-2016 ORYGUN - Bach, Hood, A-Lakes, Wallowa, HooDoo, Wilamette, etc

Apparently two large trees fell on shooting star lift cables...hopefully, repairs will happen quickly so that next weekends full start is, in fact, a whole-mountain open

The road is plowed to the Visitor Center, which is very close to Garfield Peak. Easy access, but a long drive since the only way in is from the South entrance.

How was Bachelor today? I heard there was 10 inches new. I need to use one of my days before the 18th of this month (got one of the 4 day passes that gives a free day if used before the 18th).

10 is rather generous. Seemed more like 6-8. skied pretty well and much less busy compared to Saturday. High winds and rain for the next couple days. Pretty stiff breeze right now in town.

    I heard someone say donuts!?

Bailed on MHM this weekend to chase the storm at Bake. FAIL. Rain at the base. Mank city.

And today's drive down to Portland was brutal. Like a cow pissing on a flat rock. 8k freezing level. The upshot is some deepness maybe coming Wednesday/Thursday?

Yep, and a saturated base (8 inches of rain?) in between now and then. The freeze followed by heavy snow will be a good base to build upon.

You're assuming the rain doesn't melt all of the snow at the ski areas...

Anyone have experience, good or bad, with Bachy's childcare service? I'll be in town 12/17-12/20 and just realized I might get to ski after all.

I have heard good things. It is not the same thing, but I've used their program for lessons for the kid. (I think my son was about 5 or so when he first went?) It included skiing, but really was more daycare than lessons...

Enjoy your turns. Setting up to be a good time period. (...Knocks on wood, I'll be arriving as you leave...)

Let's make it happen. Tentative plans are to ski 8:30-noon Fri and Sat, then grab the kid and find some maggots to drink with. Hope I remember how to ski after basically taking last year off.

Made a few laps between storms. About a foot of good ole pnwet concrete. Decent coverage and low vis till 1/2 way down. It was good to have snow around the knees again. Its going to get good with a cool down coming. Let it dump.

Should get near a foot of new on Hood between Thursday and Friday, then another 6-10 Saturday and Sunday. Finally. Might play hooky on Friday and use a Tline mid-week tix. Y'all?

Rain on snow below 40F isn't very good at melting snow if there more than a few inches on the ground.

I really want to get down to Bachelor this year. Never been. Been out here for three years but haven't made the trek down. Should I get a airbnb in Bend? Anybody got a beat on cheap tixs?
