    All Temp Wax Recomendation

Anyone out there have a preference for an all temperature ski wax for day in day out use in the Sierra? Thanks in advance.

If the Sierra cement is anything like the hard pack over here on the east, I've been buying the toko all temp. I can get it cheap during backcountry.com sales.

Hertel Hot sauce, SVST Ultra universal (white big bars are 10 oz, small bars are only 2 oz), Holmenkol Beta Mix- Red, Dominator Zoom Universal in 100 g or 400 g are some choices.

IME, Hertel wax is not very durable. A couple years ago on Alpinord's recommendation I switched to Briko-Maplus Race Base Medium as my universal glide wax. Crazy durable -- I now need to wax half as often -- and plenty fast for me. Available at Alpinord's Slidewright site.

Just do a blend of hot cold on the skis as you wax
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

I used hertels all of last season in the Sierra and recommend it. Can't speak to durability as I wax frequently.

I've used Hertel and Briko-Maplus a lot the last few years. I can often get a deal on Hertel so I buy it when the dealer is holding. If I buy retail I buy B-M from SlideWright. I ski every day. Both work well.

Personally I use a Swix pink (25-34 degree or something) or equivalent as an everyday wax and use other waxes when it's particularly warm or cold. I think that's as good/better than using an all temp.

Also a big fan of purl. Way better than anything else I've used. SVST is goddamn worthless. Haven't tried the hertel that everyone is all hot and bothered over.

Big bricks of hertels are pretty darn cheap compared to swix, etc so that's why those of us who wax a lot are big fans. But price aside I've used it at 0 degrees and 65 degrees and been pleased with the results.

IME, it's great for spring because it picks up less pollen than other waxes

Yes, Holmenkol Beta Mix is a nice mid temperature wax that happens to be red.... ;-)
But not quite as universal all temperature (they have a yellow warm and blue colder temp) in their line that work for mixing.

you are just really fucking stupid......

"not Durable" "picks up less pollen".

SLS plus floro..........is most all wax on the market EXECPT speciality shit is for Extreme Cold conditions and Tahoe does not have that.

It is all in the prep depending on conditions, so stop with this nonsense retardfest of big steve's fantasy world.

Hertel makes a really consistent product, I save the scrapings

If you don't know that some waxes abrade more quickly than others, especially in abrasive snows, I can't help your ignorant pea brain. Hertel glides fine but IME it abrades off the ski base faster than other waxes I've used. BM medium base is a high temp melt very tenacious and hard wax, which AFAICT is why it picks up less pollen, and it stays on skis far longer, est. 3X to 4X longer than Hertel, which I can best describe as fragile in most snow conditions I ski. Check out Slidewright site, which notes that the BM medium base wax lasts at least twice as long as other waxes, a substantial understatement.
