This region has been seriously shafted the last few years. Everywhere around us gets the good while we eeek out a few inches here and there. I don't remember the last time I skied knee deep snow at Burke. I barely have 6" at my stake. Burke's lack of decent snow making is REALLY glaring this year.
Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

Smuggs skied pretty well this weekend. Monday was a vast improvement over Sunday. I think a lot of terrain will be skiable with this new snow. Meanwhile I'm off to Colorado.

Does anybody know what happened to the NOAA Storm Total Snow Forecast maps for northern NH/Western Maine, Eastern MA/Southern NH, and Western MA/Southern VT?
In other words, I'm looking for a map that looks like this...
http://www.weather.gov/btv/stormtotalsnow
...for those other regions of New England. Unfortunately clicking the regional links on the above map does not take me to the snowfall forecast maps for the specified region like they did last season. Instead I get stupid stuff like this:
http://www.weather.gov/gyx/
Not being a sailor, gale warnings are of little use to me.
Yes I have googled it.

It seems like they change the web address for those annually (probably keeps some government web admin busy for 3 weeks).
Vermont/N NY: http://www.weather.gov/images/btv/wi...talSnowWeb.png
NH/ME: http://www.weather.gov/images/gyx/St...alSnowFcst.png
E NY/W MA/S VT: http://www.weather.gov/images/aly/Sn...nowWebFcst.png
MA/RI/CT: http://www.weather.gov/images/box/wi...alSnowWeb1.png
This is also handy: http://digital.weather.gov/?zoom=7&l...&tunits=localt
Also handy (and depressing so far this year): http://www.nohrsc.noaa.gov/interacti...nt=0&js=1&uc=0Last edited by From_the_NEK; 01-19-2016 at 03:23 PM.

Dawn tour today at Mt. Ellen before work. Good skiing. Interesting mix of wind buff/packed powder/powder. Drifts ranged from 2-16 inches. If you hit it right, twas' glorious. Stick to the edges of trails and trees today. I suspect wind scoured up high.

EAST COAST ROLL CALL #9 Find the time to ski those lines!
Dawn patrol lap up to the top of the gondaler provided the turns I've been dreaming about for weeks. So good to get that fix. It was awesome the whole way down.
Stayed for a bit after opening bell, under the 4runner I'll echo what was said about the irregularity of the depth, some spots were completely scoured others were well over a foot. Trail sides were pretty consistent though.
It was nice to get out of the wind up top.

Looks like the Mighty has/had some nice unslayed snow. What about soup?
Took my bd off yesterday to ski with Eli and after a late start found some agreeable snow.
5 runs on Lifeline were enough to get things flowing, middle section was as good as it gets
Middle Earth was not as snowy
Mid mountain woods were ok, but still a long way off due to no base to speak of.
Into the wormhole
Ran into Surface Whore who was having a good time slashing pow. If you ski teh bush I would avoid Domino/ lower Domino, there is no good reason these trails should be open. I would rather ski the road in front of my house.
Skied the woods to the back door for the 1st time this season and it wasn't too bad, had to stop a bunch to pull ribbons out of the trees.
Fellow BD celebrator Joseph showed up and we got into Elis' stock of suds
Currently 8` with light wind and snow falling bob
