Reminder for this Saturday's tree trimming pre-Halloween massacre at Plattekill, be at the lodge at 8:45am for a chairlift ride up and drop me a line that you're coming!

Nice, but, when's it gonna snow?

    Oh, right, it already did.

    So I did this yesterday:

Skiing all those powder laps sure was fun, but eventually it was time for Serious Bidness: trying to ski all the way to the base on the final lap:

    Victory!

Oh no, I forgot about the snow-covered walkway -- quick, rando race transition to put the skis back on the final snow:

    Greetings to Roll Call

The seasons are having their annual fight and winter seems to be winning the last few days. Let's keep that trend going!

Edit: I wonder if that huge Qotel in the top picture will actually be finished and open by December 11th They are still working on finishing the siding and the weather is only going to get more difficult to work in from here on out.
Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

Hey, that was some real winter powder skiing yesterday at MRG!
(Even if the scattered leaves on top added some interesting color to the otherwise smooth white canvas.)

Seriously though (although that was indeed serious), thanks for the ESAW plug.
I know that each year I say that each successive ESAW is better that the prior year's (like a ski gear rep promoting the latest models?), but not my fault that the speaker line-up keeps improving!
Here are some of the most notable outside presenters for this year:

I've also delayed the classroom session of my avy course to November 14:

... so still time to get cracking on those homework assignments if anyone is interested.

With my legs & lungs plus your liver we'd have the ideal combo!
(Just have to be careful not to reverse the combination...)

For those whose legs & lungs are ready to go (liver optional), the rando/skimo race series is really coming together for this season:
    http://nerandorace.blogspot.com/2013...schedules.html

Highlights of what's new = midweek night series at Bolton in Jan & Feb, weekend of USSMA National Series racing at Magic March 12-13, then a 24-hr race at Bolton the following weekend, plus lots of races throughout the season in Quebec for those of you even further north.

    Important race-related announcements here:

And publicity flyer here if you have any shop bulletin boards suitable for posting:

Oddly enough I got those boots off Gear Trade, but yes, both Dynafit and Hagan have been very nice to our rando race series!
(Just have to keep straight which pictures I forward to which company, especially from races depending on which company's lycra suit I'm wearing...)

Clearly I am out of my league here...

Spandex wearing, sponsored pros, 7' tall b-ball centers, and pictures of beers and mountains I never knew existed... gonna try to keep up, but it won't be easy.

    Can't wait to try, tho.

I'd like to hear the story behind this shot....
Looks similar to a zone FIS did several years ago.
