Does not look like a Katana to me... I would much much prefer the Katana over that one. At least 186 is a good length (Volkl measures true).

Aye, I know that. There are similarities though too.

    Sweet looking ski anyway.

That's what I was thinking too. And from what I have heard, the RPC which isn't exactly a dentist ski, is going out of the lineup.

What exactly is the purpose of this? I'm assuming you are referring to the praxis skis.

Good question! Yeah Praxis and Pep Fujas' new K2 model is assym also. Back when Scotty Bob tele skis were around they had asymetrical sidecut in order to better match the radius of the inside edge and outside edge of the two skis, which differs due to edge angle and body position in a turn. Not sure if the new designs are doing that or trying something different. All these years I thought symmetrical sidecut skis worked just fine...

Not sure who came out with asymmetrical skis, but Dynastar had the Crosscomp series skis in the early 90's(the GS sidecut also had a thicker core profile, so skinny core rig side of ski, thick core left side of ski) and Rossi also had a model then as well.

At least they know their market. Dynastar failed there, imo, with their Cham series. Head failed too when they ditched the Monster series.

If I'm not mistaken, Volkl had a similar ski in the 90's.

The new Dalbello Lupo Carbon Ti looks like the boot I've wanted for years. Fingers crossed the walk mode is improved from the standard Lupo.

Anyone got more information on this boot??? I can only find one mention of it on the interwebs. (it was mentioned in Gear institutes 2017 preview. Can't post a link)

Looks like they are expanding the market. Quite a few of DPS current skis are aimed at people who know how to ski. 105, RPC, L120 and L138 are skis for people who rip! But this new foundation line is for intermediate skiers and they are even saying so. I just wish they didn't remove the RPC as that is my everyday and all time favorite ski. But apparently people want softer skis.

And softer skis are a problem these days. It's getting harder and harder to find good skis that doesn't feel like noodles.

So is that official that they're using the more expensive and durable base material across their entire line? Same stuff ON3P uses?

I have more core shots in my Bonafides than all three of my ON3P skis combined.

I also saw lots of blizzards with edge compression.

There's nothing you can do about edge compression other than not hit rocks.

Base material from last two years is 4000 base which is twice the hardness of bases before. Had nothing to do with cost. 4000 base dries out much faster. Only skis that get waxed a lot were using 4000 base before (race skis) but supplier came up with a 4000 base that was pre impregnated with wax so that they don't dry out as fast if not waxed.

    Stronger sidewalls. (UHMW vs ABS)

In any case, Blizzard makes good skis for sure, and probably the best option among mass-produced (ie, cheap) skis for stiffer skis. But many of the indies still make good, stiff, durable skis - ON3P, Praxis, Folsom, etc.
