I've never had decent baked beans, just Heinz garbage out of a can as a kid. What do people eat with this stuff? I'm guessing bbq (steaks probably too heavy, chicken?), nice french loaf or garlic bread maybe.

Any ideas for accompaniments are greatly appreciated.

Grilled burgers, tater salad, and baked beans are classic Midwestern "cookout" fare where I'm from.

Damn that looks good. My dad used to make beans regularly when I was a kid, we ate ‘em with dark rye bread, and maybe corn as a side. The beans were the main course. He always put fatty pork in the mix, so if you didn’t, maybe pour over a slab of ham?

    .

Hot dogs or ham and baked beans is a common New England meal, sometimes served w brown bread- a canned product, or parker house rolls and cole slaw.

Thanks guys, these are all brilliant ideas. I love the regional references too.
