    Just bought half of a cow. Soooo. Guess I need some good burger recipes.

    No hormones or antibiotics. Grass fed and grain finished in Clarksville, TN.

    383 pounds for 1183 plus the butcher fee. Just shy of 4 bucks a pound.

    Sorry if mashed sucks but I like these tips. Biggest three for me is not over handling not packing the patties down too much and not over seasonig. People who said they liked my burgers before were blowing smoke up my ass. And, they will. Also, I find that the indent should be pretty substantial.

    I'm sure they're tasty, but I'm curious - why do flour tortillas? Do you like them better than corn? Corn tortillas are a key part of enchiladas for me, the corn flavor and the way they soak up sauce and get soft and delicious (whereas flour tortillas get weirdly gummy under all that sauce). Just not sure what the advantage of using flour tortillas would be; I always find flour tortillas weird in enchiladas. (Costco sells corn tortillas too!)

    Ugh, it's a sad reality that I'm forced to compromie on the tortillas in order to placate my kids who, almost to a man, refuse to eat corn tortillas. I've rationalized for long enough on this issue that I'm comfortable with the sacrifice in the near term, knowing full well that eventually they'll be old enough to tolerate the little bit of extra chew and flavor that a corn tortilla provides.

    That's a pretty solid explanation. I didn't like corn tortillas for a long time as a kid either. Someday they'll come around.

    I would never have thought of doing burgers on anything other than my Big Green Egg... Once I got my Camp Chef flattop I have not once done my burgers on my Egg...! My flattop smash burgers are a regular request when we have friends over for dinner...

    Hereís a strange question- anyone ever break their green egg?

    Itís an odd set of circumstances that I wonít bore anyone with but the whole bottom part of mine cracked today:

    Damn, cow is cheaper there. More than twice that price per pound for all grass fed quarter cow here.

    You think that would actually work? The whole thing is cracked all the way across and on the bottom as well. Im not all that inclined to do all that work for the hell of it. Everything Iíve read said Iíll lose all the high heat qualities ( I. E. If itís not sealed super well it wonít hold its heat. Plus JB weld will break down at higher temps and become viscous.

    I am ok with buying a new bottom portion as long as itís not dentist expensive.

    If you bought the BGE new I believe they have a lifetime warranty.

    Otherwise, hit the local Offerup, Letgo and CL listings. Tons of people on there selling new eggs they couldn't dial in.

    The nut pulled off and separated the nest and the whole egg came slipping out forward. So that nest nut failed and allowed enough play in that platform to let the egg slip forward. That thing is heavy as fuck and when I tried to hold it it slid down and hit the ground. And shattered into the pieces seen.

    Pretty odd and fucked up. I donít even know if I explained it well. But now I have a call in to their warranty department to see if theyíll warranty the base. Otherwise I can get a new one for $450. Ouch.

    Big green egg made and sold the nest. All very weird cuz I have to explain that that product malfunctioned to explain the egg itself falling and cracking.
